I worked with Carla Bellisio of Fermata Designs for my October 8, 2016 wedding at the Red Clover Inn in Mendon, Vermont. This was one of the best wedding decisions I ever could hav...
e made. Carla created a custom wedding dress for me that made me feel more beautiful than I ever have. I didn’t have any luck finding a gown in retail stores – it seems that my desire for simplicity (and also sleeves) just aren’t something that are often found in the bridal industry. So I looked to Carla, and I am so grateful for it. Leading me by the hand through the construction and design process, she showed an incredible sensitivity to all of my concerns, working tirelessly with me to resolve issues and questions until we were both completely satisfied. We were also able to incorporate my grandmother’s buttons from her wedding dress, which was very important to me. I admire Carla’s commitment to sustainable fashion and fabrics, and was happy that my gown could be somewhat eco-friendly. I was amazed by the quality of the construction, and watching the gown come together over our fittings is something I will never forget. Carla’s artistry and craftsmanship was evident in every stich, and her perfectionist nature shone through in all aspects of the process. On the day of the wedding, I received so many compliments on my stunning gown, and I will never forget the look on my husband’s face when he saw me. I would highly recommend Carla and Fermata Designs to any bride.

fabrics and in refashioning heirloom gowns. However, when I came to them with my own ideas for a brand new gown and a fabric for the bodice that I'd set my heart on, they worked with me & helped me develop my design ideas (some of them incompatible) in sensible ways. Carla met with me first and made the initial sketch, and Jocelyn made the gown (& an initial muslin mock-up). They were very responsible and worked fast, and they have great taste and a true craftsman's sense of how to achieve the effects I had in mind. I love the dress they made for me, and received many compliments on it at my wedding (and even on Facebook from a high school classmate of my husband who wasn't at the wedding — she just had to say how much she liked my gown!) They were also friendly and very easy to talk to, which is important in a situation in which people tend to be a little anxious and at once demanding and vague. This may be the one time in my life that I'll have a dress made for me, and with Fermata Designs it was as fun and pleasant as it could possibly be. I looked forward to the fittings; it was exciting to see the dress take shape. I cannot recommend them highly enough.
