Thanks to recommendations from couples on The Knot
Ethan W. Photography is a film-inspired wedding studio based in Washington, DC, photographing weddings and engagement sessions along the East Coast and across the United States.
The work leans timeless: warm tones, honest color, and a finish that looks and feels like film. Documentary at heart, a little moody when the light calls for it, and made to read like your parents' wedding album rather than a trend. The photographs that matter in thirty years are rarely the posed ones, so most of the day is photographed as it actually happens.
The experience is built with the same care as the photographs, from the first call to the day your gallery arrives as the full story of the wedding. The dance floor gets the energy it deserves, your grandparents forget there's a camera in the room, and the quiet moments are left alone to breathe.
Beyond weddings, the studio photographs editorial and commercial work for clients including Saks Fifth Avenue and the Pendry.
A limited number of weddings each year. Full galleries, real wedding stories, and collections with an instant estimate at ethanwong.photography.
Asian-owned, Hispanic or Latinx-owned and LGBTQ+-owned Business
The Knot independently assesses vendors for this award—it’s never self-reported. We base it on firsthand experiences from real couples and guests, and they must have a 4.5-star average across 7+ reviews in the qualifying year.

I picked up a camera at eight and never put it down.
Most couples tell me they feel awkward in front of a camera. I'll give a little direction when it helps and otherwise stay out of the way, so you get to be at your wedding rather than at a photoshoot.
A wedding day has many moods and I move with them. Loud when the dance floor goes off, quiet when your grandparents are having a moment, and attentive to the small in-between things that tend to be the ones you return to years later.
I built the website and the client portal myself, because the whole experience should feel as considered as the photographs. Your gallery arrives as the full story of the day.
I believe e v e r y o n e is beautiful in their own way. Sometimes it just takes the right person to bring that out 🤍

Ethan was an amazing photographer at our wedding celebration. He was attentive, in tune, and professional. He felt like one of our friends or family and made everyone feel so comfo...
rtable- even for those who are not used to having their picture taken. He gave great cues and captured all the candies we wanted. He was always there ready to shoot when we wanted a photo. He got so many great shots within our four hour event and delivered them back to us in about 48 hours- which is unheard of for event photographers! We loved his vintage style and all of our photos were better than we could have imagined- even in a low light setting. Ethan is also extremely affordable compared to many other event/wedding photographers in the DMV, which was important for us. I would highly recommend hiring Ethan to take any important photos you may want or for your next event. We would gladly hire him again!

tos. Ethan made us look AND also feel amazing as we took photos as the natural hype man and he kept that energy up for hours into the reception. He was flexible even when our ceremony was pushed an hour back due to unforeseen traffic in DC and still made sure that we got all the important shots at a wedding venue that had cultural significance for me. We had several friends and family members asking where we had found the photographer, because his energy was truly addictive and everyone loved how he made others feel really good during the event.
Make sure you have Ethan as part of your day - you will feel amazing AND leave with amazing and authentic photos.
