My partner and I do not give negative reviews, but Emery's was a severe pain point at our wedding in May. After processing the deposit, we didn't feel like we had a kind or collabo...rative experience with Emery's. The in-person tasting we had with our staff member felt unfriendly and indifferent, which was noticed by our families who were there. Within their contract, Emery's stated they would provide a day of coordinator to help with logistics, decor, and being our point of contact for vendors to facilitate the overall schedule of our wedding. We printed a decorations checklist for the coordinator to use and provided details of where to place things, labeling boxes of the decor as asked in the contract. When we arrived at 330 (vendors came at 2), a lot of decorations weren't fully up. We weren’t bothered by it knowing there was another hour before people started coming in at 430. When we started taking group pics at 430 before the 5pm ceremony, there were still boxes of trash in the main room that hadn’t been cleaned up until my MIL and bridesmaid spoke to the coordinator about clearing it. Our chairs for the ceremony were also not fully set up as guests were arriving at 430.
Re: our coordinator, she did not say hello or communicate with any of us when our wedding party arrived on-site until 15-min before the ceremony started. For a person we were relying on to be our point of contact for vendors and the day’s schedule to not talk with any of us - me, my partner, or the wedding party - not only before the ceremony, but for the rest of the night was really poor customer service. The one time I saw our coordinator was when she had us lined up for the ceremony. We didn’t see her the rest of the evening, nor did she check in on how we were doing. One part about our experience with Emery’s that put a damper on our wedding was not having our full cake served to guests (the backup was served) nor having pictures taken of the two of us eating it. We had timeline signage that outlined the day’s schedule, including the time of our cake cutting, that we listed in our checklist to be put out for people to see. The coordinator did not put the sign out and we did not cut our cake together that night. We made the best of it the day after with family at our home, but we had a full cake that was meant to serve 75+ people that should have been given out to guests. And had to find a way to get the cake out before we left on our honeymoon the Tuesday after.
What most upset us was that our friends and family had to pitch in a lot with the decor setup, wrangling people around, and tasks that we understood were to be Emery's responsibility. The coordinator felt more like a catering captain. We asked to speak with the owner when we were picking up leftover inventory from their office a few days after the wedding. When we arrived and asked where to park for pickup, the staff from our tasting said to my husband “What are you doing here? Your meeting is not until 1130,” after being told to come at 11 to pick up our alcohol. When we met the owner, he told us he wasn’t going to talk to our coordinator until a week later because she was so burnt out from our wedding. For what we thought was going to be a professional wedding caterer, to say that to a newly married couple felt horrible. My husband and I ultimately felt it was the right thing to talk about our experience to them in person. The food is good, but we would not recommend using Emery’s to anyone.
