I was feeling incredibly overwhelmed and panicked and just wasn’t getting the help or comfort I needed in those moments. The second Aaron and Melissa arrived, I felt such a sense of relief.
Melissa especially was an absolute lifesaver. Having another woman there who made me feel comfortable, supported, and cared for meant more than I can explain. She helped me feel at ease and made me feel like everything was going to be okay.
Aaron is incredibly talented and so good at keeping everything moving smoothly while still making you feel relaxed. Together, they completely changed the course of my day and helped me actually enjoy our wedding.

We are a husband & wife photography team based in Madison, Wisconsin. We met on a blind date nearly two decades ago and have been married for over 15 years. We have three kids and two pretty cute Aussies : )

On our wedding day, East Elm was our constant source of security and leadership. The entire process was effortless. Prior to our engagement and wedding photos, we had never gotten professional photos taken. East Elm Photography guided us through each photo which took so much stress off our shoulders and made the process so seamless.
The photos they captured are absolutely unforgettable. When everyone says the wedding day goes fast, they were not kidding. When we received our photos back, we were able to relive the day and experience all the little details all over again. Every image is filled with emotion, warmth, and the little details that made our day uniquely ours. Even battling 30-40 mph winds, East Elm Photography was able to capture great outdoor pictures I didn’t think we were going to be able to make happen. We will cherish these photos for the rest of our lives.
We are endlessly grateful for the memories Aaron and Melissa preserved for us. If you’re looking for someone who brings talent, ease, and true care to their work, look no further. They were one of the best decisions we made for our wedding.

025, and I am disappointed in how many of the photos with our family turned out, because my arm is awkwardly out at an angle and there is a noticeable gap between me and many of the family members we took photos with, and this is in the center/focal point of the photos. This wouldn't have been a problem if they had taken another moment to adjust and position us, but it was very rushed when it didn't have to be.
Otherwise, it is certainly clear that Aaron and Melissa are very talented photographers and know how to take good shots and adjust things to make them look good. But I do think for the money that we paid, more care should have been taken by them in positioning us during the family photo portion.
We also had one very small and simple touch up request for one of our engagement photos ( a few flyaway hairs --this is the only one we asked for any editing on) and were met with a resounding "no." I do feel that as expensive as East Elm is, one could probably find a photographer in the Madison area that is the same price but perhaps a little more willing to put in the effort for their customers.

If you thought we were so expensive, we just can't help but wonder why would you even hire us to document your wedding in the first place?
We have done everything possible to stay at a fair price in this economy and we may even be on the low end compared to our competitors with all of our vast experience and accolades we've accumulated through the years.
Seeing that we have over 250 5 star reviews, we feel that we can safely say that we put forth a considerable amount of effort on wedding days with every single client, despite what you might think.

We picked a venue that exemplified us as a couple, and they captured that better than I could have ever dreamed! As a couple we so appreciate the candid shots over the staged photos, but they made the staged photos so painless, and allowed us to pick some of the locations based on what we liked best. We are such a laid-back couple and they fit right into that vibe, while also making sure we got amazing photos. By far the best photographers we have worked with after being in plenty of other weddings, and I am already thinking about future anniversaries where we can work with them again!

While it rained both during our engagement photos and on our wedding day, they were very well prepared for alternatives and if anything arose they pivoted with grace and professionalism. My wife had a beautiful veil that even Melissa helped carry and arrange just perfectly for our wedding photos. While we have only seen a sneak preview of some photos, knowing how breathtaking those are and our engagement photos were, we cant wait!
We look forward to working with East Elm Photography in the future for other life events as we know finding vendors can be stressful but these two are just amazingly patience and kind individuals we wont go anywhere else. Thank you, Aaron and Melissa.
