not disappoint. My mom and sister were also very happy with how their hair & makeup turned out (and they are hard to please). I was afraid of makeup artists who would follow a set palette/approach, but she was very much customizing it based on my features and preferences. We went through two trials, and I could not be happier with the end result on my wedding day! I wanted flower pieces in my hair and a veil without comb (less bulky) and she knew how to handle both things with ease and make it look stunning. The retainer service offered is clutch; I had numerous touch ups before and in between the first look, ceremony, family pictures, and up to before the reception to make sure that everything hair and make up -wise continued to look flawless. 100% recommend!

When I wasn't fully satisfied with my first makeup trial, she offered her own time to do a follow-up trial when we couldn't make the scheduling work with Erica, and she even went so far as to take videos and extensive notes so Erica would know what to do day-of. Erica did a great job fielding all the comments and requests from my family on the day-of, and Carly absolutely crushed it with my hairdo switch-up for my reception. The best part probably is that I cried SO much during my ceremony and my makeup didn't smudge or run at all. Super high quality and really went above and beyond. By the morning of the wedding, I never doubted my bridal party and I would look beautiful. On the day of the wedding, Kaity and Nicole did an exceptional job. They made an early early morning a fun time and had everyone in and out of the makeup/hair chairs on schedule. I had an artist on retainer up until my ceremony time and Kaity was a delight and kept me sane and hydrated before everything started. Everyone's hair and makeup still looked gorgeous at the end of the night, even after all the crying and partying. I am not someone who wears makeup day-to-day and they made me feel and look like the most beautiful version of myself. Quality service that I knew I could rely on, I could not recommend them more!

Your wedding is important and the HOURS you spend getting ready really sets the stage for the day. Crystal created a great timeline, the timeline worked perfectly, my hair and make-up began and ended on time and her assistant was amazing with my family and bridal party. I felt like Crystal was my friend and knew the ins and outs of what needed that day. She is not just there for your hair and make-up she is there to make sure you feel like the bride and everyone else knows you are the bride- its your day, its your money and you deserve to have a stress free morning. Crystal and I had many back and forth emails as I live in Arizona and got married in Detroit Michigan. She was willing to schedule my hair and make up trial while I was home in the summer - this lined up perfectly with my photographers to do our “engagement” shoot on the same day. My trial was great, she made sure she looked through all my photos and chose what would work best for my skin/face and personal preferences. If there was something I wasn’t sure about she was honest in her suggestions. After the trial my hair and make up had a real test. While doing our photoshoot there was a HUGE storm- rain sideways, trees and trash flying through the air and intense wind. My hair and make up help up exceptionally. I was fully confident after this trial run everything would be great for a Michigan wedding. We did our make up at the Ren Cen- the front desk was not helpful in setting things up but Crystal was prepared for that and had great communication to make sure we knew where she was and when to grab her to make sure she got up to the room. She brought each person a personal bag with their make up in it and I had an attendant stay with me through the reception. This was a great option. It helped having someone there to fix any make up after I balled on my first look, someone there to give me water during photos, someone there to fix/add more lip stick and assistance in putting my gigantic veil on before the ceremony. There was even a fly that got into my veil and thankfully with an extra set of hands we were able to avoid a freak out ! Crystal is understanding, honest and specific. I really appreciate all those things and I would hire her again in a heartbeat.

I specifically wanted to look at portfolios of MUA that have done make up on asian eye shapes as I have struggled with eyeshadow and eyeliner on my own eyes watching generic YT clips. I was so happy to find Drake Artistry Collective. They have a portfolio showcasing their capabilities doing natural make up on Asian Americans and their capabilities of doing heavier makeup as well. I shared my concerns of not wanting to “feel the heaviness of makeup on my face” and the fact that my hair is extremely thin/fine and gets oily very easily. Crystal listened to these concerned and told me exactly how she would handle it. She was great in her explanation on what she does and how she differs from other vendors. I had reached out to several before finding her and after speaking to her on the phone, I knew to move forward with her. Trial run went perfectly - she even took some pictures in a “professional” setting to show me how the makeup would look like in certain lighting. We touched base after the trial to ensure everything lasted as it should and any tweaks that were needed. On the day of, her and her team arrived on time and were professional the whole time. I had a large bridal party of 8 people as well as my mom and MIL AND the flower girl. And they were great in timing things out and leaving space for any touch ups that were required. They even thought to schedule out each of my girls according to hair thickness and etc. Everything was perfectly planned. I would 100000% recommend them to anyone looking for a MUA.

I was only more impressed when I finally met her in person for my bridal preview! For starters, her studio is AMAZING- full of plants and very clean and super stylish. Crystal herself was as professional as she'd been the entire time, but not in a stuffy overly polite way. She was very easy to talk to during my appointment and really helped put me at ease through the whole process. I don't know much about hair and makeup, and she struck this amazing balance of using her own expertise and experience to offer suggestions that meshed with my own personal style and preferences for my look. More than anything, I wanted a high-top ballerina bun (I called it my marriage meatball!) and had concerns my hair was not gonna be quite long enough to pull it off. Crystal put so much time and care into making it not just possible, but look really good too. My makeup turned out just as beautiful- it was peachy and pretty and bright, and I never felt too made-up/fake like I had been so terrified of. But where Crystal really earned her MVP Vendor title was the day of. She and her team arrived to get me and my bridal party ready on time and in excellent spirits despite the early start time. We all had so much fun as we took turns getting ready (organizing this time schedule was yet another thing Crystal orchestrated very well and kept me from stressing over) listening to music and talking the hours way. Crystal's staff did the most amazing job making my already lovely girls look their best- all of them were so happy with their finished hair and make and more than once I had them tell me they had never felt so beautiful before. I know I felt exactly the same way, and Crystal perfectly recreated the look I'd loved so much at my preview. We had worked out a retainer schedule for her to actually join us at the venue for a few hours so she could make sure I looked tip-top for ceremony and photos. While she was at the venue with us... Crystal was NOT just my hair and makeup stylist, no. She was my CHAMPION. When my photographer/videographer disappeared for over an hour to just...literally stand around I guess, it was Crystal who marched off to find them and tell them to get their shit together and get some photos going. When my cranky venue-provided day of coordinator gave up on some decor I wanted up, it was Crystal who got them to find some tape and figure it out. Literally, Crystal was more organized, attentive, and capable than ANYONE else that day, and was not shy about having my back where my other vendors fell short. She was fierce and kind and AMAZING!!! Out of everyone I did business with in regards to my wedding, it's Crystal I'm most grateful for and cannot recommend her enough <3

stal Drake did an amazing job for my mom, my bridesmaids, and myself. My trial was 4 months before my wedding, and I was able to schedule it so it was the same day as my engagement photos. Crystal is SO thorough and easy to work with. I was planning this wedding from a completely different time zone, and she was very accommodating/understanding of my schedule. She uses a portal which includes all of your documents/contracts/important information. One thing that really stood out to me about Crystal during my first meeting with her before deciding was she asked me who my photographer was so she could match my makeup to my photographer’s style. This was a detail I didn’t even think about, but made so much sense. She has questionnaires for you to fill out ahead of time so she can get a better sense of what you want. At my trial she asked what specifically I liked about each of the photos so she could help me achieve the look I wanted. I wanted natural looking makeup since I don’t wear makeup often. I wanted a dewy/glowy look with fluffy eyebrows. During the trial she made sure to always ask me what I liked and didn’t like. She was always open to feedback and listened to what I wanted. She would also give feedback regarding certain things that maybe would not work well or achieve the look I wanted, which I really appreciated because I am not a professional. She took notes throughout the whole thing to make sure I would have the perfect look. At the end of my trial, she took test photos with similar lighting/editing as my photographer to make sure my makeup captured correctly. Even after my trial, she followed up to make sure I liked the way my makeup looked in my engagement photos. Crystal sent a day off schedule ahead of time and asked if I needed to make any changes. The week before and the few days before she confirmed time/location/services. Come wedding day, her team was of course incredible! We got ready at my parents’ place. They came right on time, and we finished with 40 minutes to spare. If you are looking for hair/makeup for your big day, Crystal Drake is your go to!

Being a bride with minimal makeup knowledge, it was so nice to have such wonderful professionals to trust on such a special occasion. I also appreciated how they took cleanliness seriously. Only critique I have is that Crystal is usually very busy, so she might not always respond right away. But she still gets 5 stars from me because it was all worth it!

Her forms and paperwork really broke things down to aide in decision making and impart clear information. The bridal trial was very thorough. On the day of the wedding, she was essential. We booked her for her retainer service, and she was there to help with any problems. My wife's zipper broke, and Crystal sewed her into her dress. Both our hair deflated multiple times due to humidity, and she re-curled it multiple times. She was a very calming presence during photos and always made sure we had water or whatever we needed. Seriously, BOOK CRYSTAL!!!

The wedding day, Crystal had her team took care of my large party, which included moms, aunts, cousins, etc. All of us looked so good and beautiful that day! Crystal is a fantastic artist to book and I would recommend her to anyone. She'll make sure you'll look amazing the whole day.
