n where basically everyone was dancing and having a great time. Harvey was open to adjustments with our timeline as needed and double checked with me on things he thought I may have an opinion on. Also, he made me feel sooo much better, because our ceremony was outside and it was supposed to rain, and inside of freaking out about the rain sprinkles, he came with a plan and used trash bags to coverup his ceremony equipment and remained calm. I expected that it could be a mess with the rain, but Harvey was on our team and made me feel so much better and relaxed knowing it was under control. It was a beautiful day and an amazing reception, and we truly have Harvey to thank in the process for helping the flow, being adaptable, and knowing how to read the room to pick fun dances off our list at the best times. Thank you Harvey, from the Hornsby’s!!

Me and my team loved every time I’ve gotten to work with him, he really does make every event better. Other positive items to note, the process with DJ connection is seamless! Portal is planner and client friendly, communication on quick and easy, all great things! We’ve also worked with Arlington and he’s fantastic, full of energy throughout the entire event!

ections did not let me talk to Harvey before wedding day and I think that caused some issues. 1. Our dance floor music was not connected neither was our dinner music even though I emailed direct links to it & confirmed it on the timeline we made. This was an issue because my husband only wanted 4 songs and we missed one of them because a different song was played 2. We had a flash mob dance entrance planned for the reception and I think it was kind of chaotic before the grand entrance because of not getting to talk to him about the routine. 3. During dinner they played my cocktail hour music. During cocktail hour, I was told the DJ would move music to the clubhouse and I don’t think that happened. I had to have my grandma go tell DJ Harvey to play the other dinner playlist. 4. Our first dances music was messed up as well. Not in a terrible way that anyone noticed but my groom’s mom didn’t want to dance long and she had requested only one minute-ish of the song to be played and it was definitely longer. My mom & I’s dance music was great, our first dance was great, and my dad & I’s dance was also longer than anticipated even though I put to fade on the notes 5. Our ceremony music was great! We had 2 songs for procession & 1 for communion & 1 for exit and it was perfect. 6. Communication about what was happening next was a little awkward again, because we didn’t get to talk before. Right after speeches he had to ask what was next… even though I gave a script to the person I talked to on the phone to put on the timeline for the DJ just to read off 7. Our cake cutting music was awesome! Starting the dance floor trick was so fun & people loved it. Our secret last dance- DJ Harvey did amazing at clearing the room with a ton of people & my family is silly sometimes and didn’t understand to leave so he helped us haha. Again, I think all of this could’ve been less chaotic if the company took the exact notes I gave as well as let me talk to DJ Harvey before the day of the wedding.

We also had had a couple songs on the "do not play list" and one was played which was another disappointment. Lastly, I had spent months preparing a very specific playlist and we only heard a small percentage of our music choices. Songs we never picked were played, so that was another big bummer. I would give it 1 star but our DJ that played the event really was a sweetheart, maybe just needs to have a backup plan when things don't work.

elp me plan what songs to play at the wedding. David was very helpful and outgoing, and that’s what convinced me to book them. It did help that attending the bridal show and booking our wedding on a Sunday got us quite the discount. I spoke to them toward the beginning of planning the wedding and they were very understanding of our musical wants and needs. Planning the playlist using the portal was so much fun! You can include songs you want played in the prelude, during dinner, and during the reception. You also have the opportunity to ask guests what songs they would like played while dancing. I included this option in the invitations and we’ve gotten great suggestions. If you choose to not have a certain genre played, DJ Connection is very respectful of that. The DJ that came to our wedding was great. He started playing the prelude music when the photographers got there and shuffled the songs we had assigned to that section. He did the same thing with the dinner music. DJ Connection also provides a timeline of events that you can modify as the planning process goes on, and they give you suggestions to help get people on the dance floor. We chose the group photo trick: get everyone present on the dance floor, have the photographer(s) take pictures, and then do a dance that everyone would know. After that, the DJ chose amazing songs from the “must-play” list, and everyone I spoke to after the wedding had an amazing time.

something special to other couples, so I feel obligated to share an honest review. As far as I’m aware, our DJ arrived on time and got set up with no issue. When we did speak to him, he was very friendly. The first mishap occurred while I was walking down the aisle. I had wanted to enter at a specific moment in the song, but for some reason, the DJ chose to insert (what sounded like) an artificial pause in the music. This meant I had to start walking early, and there was an awkward lag and split in the song. Like I said, in the grand scheme of things, not a huge deal. Maybe it was a miscommunication on behalf of my coordinator? I’m certain I specified every detail, down to the second, of when I was wanting to enter at the time of booking AND during the finalization call, so I’m not sure. All that said, it was a bit disappointing, but not the end of the world. Part of the reason we chose to book with DJ Connection is the online portal they provide you once you’ve paid your deposit. It allows you to choose songs for your “special dances” (first dance, mother/son, father/daughter, etc.), and list several “must play” songs. You can specify when you’d like the songs played as well. My now husband and I knew we would have an older crowd during cocktail hour/dinner time, so we curated a mix of classics to play. My husband also chose ~40 songs he wanted played during the reception. He’s Canadian, so some of them were specific to where he grew up, and some of them were silly Oklahoma references. I spent about two hours uploading these songs into our portal, thinking the DJ could just put the list on shuffle come the day-of the wedding. I confirmed these selections during the finalization call (this takes place the week of your wedding, but you won’t actually speak to the DJ; just a company representative). I also told the representative to make a note that we did NOT want modern country played during the reception. If it was going to be country, we would prefer it be from the 2000’s or earlier. Despite this being my only “do not play” request, I would guess 60% of the music played during the reception was modern country. My husband and I also went back and referenced the ~40 “must-play” songs we provided; if I had to guess, only ~10-15 of them were actually played. This left me feeling a bit confused regarding the usefulness of the online portal? It seemed the DJ just put on a pre-made playlist rather than something tailored to our preferences, which they did take the time to ask for, and we took the time to provide. The few times the dance floor was full, it typically only lasted for 1 or 2 songs before the “vibe” phased out. Also, we had requested our grand entrance to be followed by an opportunity to thank our guests; instead, the DJ led us straight into the special dances. The microphone also continuously cut out during the speeches. Like I said, not a terrible experience. In all, I’m grateful for the service we were provided and that the DJ was professional. However, these are things I think future couples should be aware of before booking. With promotional discounts, DJ Connection was about $200 cheaper than others with comparable offers. I would consider paying the extra $200, especially if any of the above elements are particularly important to you.

However, in our agreement with the company, the DJ was supposed to be set up to play music during our cocktail hour prior to the reception, which he did not do. Additionally, during our bridal party introduction, he miscalculated the timing of the music resulting in a brief, music-less, pause while people were being announced. We also requested a specific song to be the last song played, which he proceeded to play in the middle of the reception, only to repeat it again as the last song of the night. Overall, these negative aspects of their service did not take away from a very fun reception but are certainly worth noting for future couples booking with this company.

ts that my husband and I made that were completely disregarded. I will start with the positives - I have never seen a dance floor stay consistently full like it was at our wedding! DJ Christopher was friendly, well dressed and seemed to get along well with our guest. Outside of the pastor's mic being hot the majority of the ceremony, there were no issues during the ceremony portion. The booking process was great. Dylan helped get everything set up and Derek helped with the final details. Based on my conversations with both of them and the user friendly client portal, I believed I would have nothing to worry about during the wedding. In the portal, you can request special songs (first dance, cake cutting, etc.) and also songs to be played or not played during the reception. We did not make many requests, but only a few were honored. Multiple songs - our first dance song, the song our wedding party was introduced to and our secret last dance song - all played twice during the night. I did not think we would need to request them only to be played for their special time, but requests didn't seem to mean much as many of them were disregarded. Songs from the do-not-play list were played. The song that was supposed to open the dance floor played much later and was instead replaced by "Cotton Eye Joe." I am not even going to start with my feelings towards that because I would definitely use up my character limit. Other request notes were also ignored. We have heard songs in the past few weeks since the wedding and thought "this was supposed to play." Towards the end of the night, I had to go up to request a song (that was on the requested list) twice because it had not played and I knew we were running out of time. In the final details call, we covered several of these points so how they did not seem to make it to the DJ is beyond me. Overall, DJ Christopher's energy level and ability to keep the crowd hyped was great, there just needs to be better (or more) communication or training on how to view the couple's requests.
