DJ Ceremony

r than expected, and was dressed professionally during the wedding -we had a very detailed plan of events for the night, and Carlos made sure all went smoothly -he accommodated our requests to blend music from both of our backgrounds, and respected our guidelines about songs/genres to avoid -our guests loved the music and were dancing all night -any time we needed to make an announcement or request a song, he was ready and willing to help Thanks for your hard work, Carlos!

he venues or other vendors because they tend to be pushy, loud, and sometimes annoying. The last thing we wanted to hear at our wedding was the DJ yelling at people to dance or to "shake their booties" like we heard at the wedding next door to ours. Carlos really gets into the music that he plays, and he creates the playlists with an intelligent and creative passion for music. He also made it clear that he could do whatever we wanted him to do from making announcement or MCing, but we chose to allow his music to speak for him and for our wedding, and it did. If you want traditional music, he can do that well, but we wanted more of an Indie and alternative theme mixed with many of the popular dance and rap songs. No chicken dance or electric slide for us. Thankfully, Carlos meshed perfectly with us from the beginning, and there was literally not one problem the entire time. Thank you DJ Ceremony! Note: The wedding channel cost option ends at "More than $1000". If you are getting married in the city or Long Island, good luck finding someone cheaper than this. DJ Ceremony was also one of the cheaper vendors, so keep this in mind if you don't want to spend that much while receiving quality at your wedding.

ing he DIDN'T do. Short story: I am disappointed, unimpressed, confused and shocked at his professional behavior and lack of social graces. And, of course, the pièce de résistance: HE DIDN'T BRING THE LAST SONG. Long story: From the first meeting, I was weary of Carlos. The first sign of trouble: sunglasses at night. No kidding, Carlos showed up a little late to our evening meeting, wearing sunglasses. He admitted to "having a few" and remarked that he was at a bar down the street, waiting for our meeting. We did have a nice conversation about music and what our expectations where, so we decided maybe it was just us. And, since, my now-husband liked him so much, we decided to give him a try. I do want to say that I think Carlos is probably a nice person, but he should probably not have unlimited access to booze. Our email communications were very professional and even though Hurricane Irene bumped our wedding one day, Carols made himself available to us. Which was great. However, when he arrived, much to our dismay, Carlos was disorganized, frazzled, and didn't put a button up shirt on until the Reception (I walked past him for my entrance and he was wearing a white t-shirt). In a email detailing many of the songs and songs from particular artists that we wanted to hear, my now-husband clearly stated which song we wanted to be played as the last song. Not only did Carlos neglect to bring many songs of the artists we specifically requested, at the end of the ceremony, we realized he didn't have THAT song. This song, an easy-to-find fairly mainstream song, has been a long-held anthem and night-closing ritual for my now-husband and his 20 college friends (all of whom where in attendance, eagerly anticipating singing this song). So, imagine our shock when Carlos snarkily turned to me and said, "I don't have it." When I asked him why, he said, "You never told me you definitely wanted it." Even though it was clearly, in front of him, in writing. It assumed he must've been inebriated (because how is that professional behavior?) and when I asked him to please download that song, he refused. Then, he sat in his seat, did nothing and offered no apology and no solutions. I am a pretty down to earth person, but I'm also an event planner and that night, I was the bride. Thank God a friend of ours is a Brooklyn public school music teacher and rushed in to handle the situation. Because a vendor who so blatantly disrespects the person who employed them is UNEMPLOYABLE. If that was one of my client's events, I would have fired him on the spot. However, our friend brilliantly did Carlos' job, saved the day, and hooked up her iPod (which HAD the song) to the speaker so we were able to have the last song regardless. Do I even need to mention that two nights before the wedding, Carlos pocked-dialed us at 4am? I mean. C'mon. You can do better.

this very important part of our wedding. Before meeting Carlos, we honestly considered playing music from an ipod given how much we didn’t think we’d be able to have any DJ truly ‘get’ us. Carlos proved to be the BEST decision. He took our favorites and added some of his own choice tracks to create an amazing soundscape for the backdrop to the evening. We couldn’t recommend Carlos highly enough!!!

ding planning process. We wanted a DJ who would play awesome music, not do too much "DJ banter" and could really respond to what our guests were feeling. After talking with Carlos for just a few minutes, we knew he had a total grasp on the kind of music we liked and what we wanted at the wedding (an eclectic mix of basically everything except your typical wedding tunes). He was always prompt in responding to emails and was very thorough and professional. When our wedding day finally came, Carlos was beyond outstanding. He worked our cocktail hour and four hour reception and every single song he played was a hit. We sent him a list of a handful of songs we wanted to hear and he managed to fit them all into the evening perfectly, along with all his other choices that kept up our guests excited all night long. The cocktail hour and dinner hour were a great mix of mellower songs, and then the dance party really started. I literally don't think our guests stopped dancing the entire night. One of my favorite moments was after we cut the cake, I looked over at Carlos and gave him the thumbs up to start it up again, and he came right in with Usher's "Yeah" it was just perfect. I remember thinking -- "he is the best DJ ever!!!!!" When my grandparents said they wanted a slow dance, Carlos played a few slow ones -- he kept everyone, young and old, happy. Carlos really made the evening one to remember -- and he always looked like he was having a great time as well. I would HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend him to anyone looking for some amazing music at their wedding or any event. He is laid back, easy to work with, and really did an absolutely amazing job.
