He was able to fit all of our must plays into the night as well as majority of the songs on our inspo list. We loved that he could mash songs together at different points based on how our guests were reacting. His MC skills are also amazing, and all of his announcements were just how we wanted. I would highly recommend!!

Their team of DJs and MCs are experts at getting guests dancing, creating a memorable experience for all in attendance.
Creating a party is the #1 priority, and it's achieved through an active and evolving understanding of the dance floor, creating rapport with your guests, coordinating the night, and legitimately mixing music that caters directly to the dance floor and all in attendance. Day One DJ was founded by Joe Osterberg on the principle that wedding DJs should be experienced experts and that weddings shouldn't be lame and cheesy. Every DJ on the team has an extensive background in performance, music, and hosting.
You shouldn't have to worry about anything at your wedding, and your music should be actively mixed in real-time in order to fuel the energetic exchange that's essential for a dance floor to reach its peak.

My entire life, I’ve surrounded myself with talented performers and entertainers who have inspired me during my journey. That journey has led me to having the best job ever: DJing, MCing, and creating a team of the best entertainers in the Midwest.
I’ve devoted my life to having and creating as much fun as possible. This is what I do for a living, and I’m extremely passionate about it.

off and from the moment we stepped into the venue, you could tell that the night was going to be electric. Joe did an incredible job of reading the room and playing songs that kept up the energy of the crowd. We added the CO2 guns to our package and it felt like a scene out of a movie. He is incredible at what he does and there is a reason that he is spoken of so highly by so many other vendors. I don't think anyone left the dance floor the whole night and if we could redo our wedding 100 times we would choose him again every time! A couple months before our celebration, we attended a friend’s wedding where another Day One DJ, Joe C., did an amazing job & we got super pumped for our wedding!
In the planning process, we had access to a portal that let us put in our preferences, what we like for music, and plan out our ceremony. Before the wedding, we met with Joe & there were some things that we didn’t have strong opinions on or weren’t sure of, and Joe helped smooth out some of our bumps and fill in our unknowns.
The day of, Joe was super professional & got everything set up. He has a really great sense of timing and reading the room, which really helped things flow. We had zero issues with mics or music during our ceremony and speeches, and once the dancing started, he kept our dance floor going all night long. We love live mixing, and Joe did a great job—the transitions were smooth and blended a wide variety of music together seamlessly. We also did the Photo Booth which was SO nice & we loved looking at the pics afterwards.
Our only word of advice is to make sure you schedule some time to visit with your non-dancing guests, because you will not want to get off the dance floor. Cannot recommend Joe enough!!

The entire planning process was super easy: meeting with Joe a few times to discuss our musical tastes, what we were hoping for, etc., was great. The planning portal where we could put down a few “must-play” and “do not play” options was also incredibly helpful. We liked the idea that we would only have 25 must-plays and the rest of the night is up to our DJ to select and pair with our musical tastes and influences. Joe is an incredible DJ and all of our guests loved him. He was entirely willing to go with the flow at the last minute by throwing on a “couples dance” for us when we had forgotten to discuss it, so props to him for his flexibility and great song choice for it! We only have good things to say about Joe and Day One DJ - they are truly great and keep the dance floor going! Hire them for an amazing time :)

Our guests and families LOVED his energy. I like how he mixed the music and made old songs flow into new songs seamlessly so every guest had a favorite song to dance to. We also did a "Myspace music hour" toward the end of the night with some pop/punk throwbacks that filled the dance floor. We knew we picked the right DJ when we shared it with our venue coordinator "Day One DJ?! I'm so happy you hired them, when I get married that's who I'm hiring for my own wedding!" Another quote from a guest "Is it too late to fire the DJ for our wedding next week and hire this guy?"

My husband is very into music and DJ’s. So he was very particular about who we booked for our DJ. He absolutely loved Joe. We still have people telling us that he was the best DJ they have ever seen at a wedding. Our favorite part about what Joe does is he never plays a full song or lets the music “end”. He’s feeling the crowd, what they’re vibing to, and always mixing one song into the next. Nobody ever got the, “this song is lame, let’s sit down or get a drink”. People did not leave the dance floor. We had so many people after our wedding ask about him for their future events.
Lastly, my husband was hot on the idea of booking the CO2 cannon through Joe for the dance. Two days before the wedding he texted Joe and was able to get it for us. It was truly so fun!
Joe is flexible, fun, and easy to work with. We would 10/10 recommend Joe to anyone for their wedding. He’s truly AMAZING!

We even got the honor of attending a wedding that Joe was DJing at before our wedding and we had SO MUCH FUN. My husband was on the dance floor the entire night and sweat through 2 outfits.... so when we were able to have Joe at our wedding we were so excited!
Joe was insanely fun to work with. He is a great person and a true professional. He kept our dance floor packed the entire night and knew how to perfectly read the room. I cannot even count the number of people who came up to me telling me he was the best DJ they've ever heard.

rockstar DJ. The venue lost power right in the middle of the reception dance, but that didn't stop him from rocking the jams on a bluetooth speaker instead and kept the party going! We really wanted our wedding to have a super fun dance party and I'm happy to report that the dance floor was FULL the entire evening (even during the power outage). I would request Trevor again without hesitation and could not be happier with how our dance turned out!!

He kept the party going at the second venue and made the transition seamless. the music he played was exactly what we had talked about and everyone left the wedding talking about how amazing of a DJ he was! We had DJ Guthrie on our wedding day and he was truly the best. From our first phone call with the owner Joe, to getting assigned Guthrie and working with him, Day One was amazing....
They answered all of our questions and were super easy to communicate with. Their planning portal made the ceremony and reception planning a breeze! When we had our week out call, DJ Guthrie already had gone over everything and knew how we wanted everything to work. Our ceremony got moved inside because of rain and he just rolled with it. The ceremony music was perfect and everybody loved the music he played during the cocktail hour and throughout dinner. Everybody was dancing at their seats and heads were bobbing to the music nonstop. The way he MC’ed the dinner and all of the different little events taking place was awesome. Once the reception music kicked in, the dancing never stopped. I got SO many comments on how awesome the music was and that he was the best DJ people had ever experienced at a wedding! He is a true professional and so good at what he does, but also SO much fun!!! 11/10 recommend!!!

d family members, and, most importantly, his AWESOME mix last night really hit the mark and set the right mood for our special day.
We did not make Joe’s job easy either; we had maybe 1 song on our must play list, 1 recent concert and a generic music request (2000’s pop music with some disco). The mix was a beautiful blend of Punk/Pop/Hip Hop/Disco/Classic wedding songs and all our closest friends and family didn’t have time to leave the dance floor between the most eclectic mix of perfect music to sing along with.
We are so happy we chose Day One DJ and we would seek out Joe again for any events we have AND would recommend him to friends and family. We have had a family photographer for 15 years and Joe easily fills a similar role for our DJ needs.
