My husband and I just recently got married at the Garden at the Hops in Derby, CT. Dave Grant Caterers was one of the preferred vendors recommended by the venue and it was easy to ...
see why! We booked last summer with Dave; he was very responsive to our emails and made the menu planning an exciting and easy process. Not only were his options affordable, but the food was absolutely delicious!!! We keep getting feedback from our friends and family who raved about the food! Crowd favorite hors d'oeuvres were definitely the philly eggrolls, snow crab rangoons, and the bacon wrapped scallops. Dave's team was so professional, kind, and incredibly hard working. They made everything run so smoothly, including serving 210 guests buffet-style!!! They also were frequently checking in on my husband and I to make sure we got enough to eat!! Can't say enough positive things about our experience- highly recommend Dave Grant Caterers for their amazing value and delicious food.
Our experience with Dave Grant Catering was extremely disappointing, particularly because the company we booked was not the company we ultimately experienced.
We booked our wed...
ding catering over 9 months in advance and paid a $500 deposit to reserve our date. Our original point of contact was Hector, and our experience with him was very positive and reflected the positive reviews this company has. Unfortunately, after he left, there was a change in management that resulted in a completely different experience, which was also never communicated. I had been reaching out to the number on their website for months before learning the person we booked with was no longer there or that there was any other person taking over.
As our September 19th wedding approached, we repeatedly reached out to Zach Tomasio to finalize essential details including our menu, rentals, linens, bar service, glassware, ice, and other logistics. We sent multiple emails, texts, and follow-ups and often received no response. Our venue owner also repeatedly attempted to reach the company and had difficulty getting responses.
By the week before our wedding, we still did not have confidence that the necessary details had been finalized or that we would have the support we needed on our wedding day. Our venue owner, who had also been attempting to communicate with the company, ultimately expressed serious concerns about the lack of communication and support.
We made the difficult decision to cancel and find another caterer just days before our wedding. Thankfully, A Table Catering was able to step in, and they provided an excellent experience.
What was particularly frustrating was that after months of trying to get our wedding details finalized, we were told that the communication delays were not a concern because the wedding itself would be an “easy” 25-person event. From our perspective, that completely missed the issue: we needed to be able to communicate with our caterer and have confidence that the details were actually being handled before our wedding week.
Our venue owner also spoke with other couples who had used the company at another venue next door and reported similarly frustrating experiences, particularly in the weeks leading up to their events. I cannot speak to those couples’ experiences firsthand, but it reinforced the concerns we had already experienced ourselves.
We also requested the return of our $500 deposit after cancelling, based on our understanding that it was paid to reserve the date and would be applied toward our final balance. We did not receive a response to that request or any follow-ups.
Our experience was very different from what we saw online and expected when we originally booked, and it was especially disappointing given how positive our initial experience had been with the previous management. I sincerely hope the company is able to improve its communication and client support, because the service we experienced was not what we believed we were booking.

nd responsiveness were stellar. The planning process was straightforward and very accommodating to our needs. It was very easy to communicate by both phone and email, receiving very timely responses. Wedding day service was right on schedule, prompt, and the wait staff was very attentive to our guests and the wedding party. We received compliments from many of our guests on the service and excellent quality of the appetizers and dinner entrees. We did not receive a single criticism or complaint. We could not be more satisfied with Dave Grant Caterers, and we highly recommend them without reservation for your catering needs.

estions during our initial phone call, and responding my email always within 24 hours. Dave was flexible in creating appetizers for our cocktail that we felt fit our theme/venue perfectly. Our guests had so many kind things to say about the appetizers and dinner - everything was hot and fresh. Dave himself is excellent to work with, and his staff meet the same standard. Will was the event manager at our wedding and he made sure everything was perfect. One of the waitresses, Alexis, was an absolute gem, making me a plate during cocktail hour to make sure I ate as well. We can't recommend Dave and his team enough and are so grateful that they were available to be a part of our wedding day.

alize all details and he made it easy to work with him. He truly wanted to know what we wanted for our wedding and worked to make it happen. His staff arrived to the venue on time and with plenty of time to spare. The presentation was beautiful and the food tasted great! Pricing was reasonable and well worth every penny. We even had leftovers we could take home so my family could relax and not have to cook for a few days. We would recommend David Grant Caterers to anyone looking for a caterer who cares. Our wedding day was perfect and we could not have done it without him!

r the guests to eat right after the ceremony. That way they could eat while we were getting our photos taken. The didn't start the food until they got the OK from us, which was much later. Other than that, they did a great job. I would recommend them for any event.
Until recently my fiancee and her mother had been in email contact and phone contact with David Grant Caterers about our wedding. David Grant had told them that they were availabl...
e on the day of our wedding to cater the reception. They asked for all the details as well as ideas about the menu. Everything was given to them as asked. When my fiancee sent an email to them last week to inquire about something in the menu, she received no response. When she sent a second email, David Grant responded that they had never received the first email and that, furthermore, that date had been booked for quite some time. If they had, in fact, been books for quite some time, why did they ask for our details, let us know that they were available, and lead us to a month before the wedding to think that they were our caterer? Either they made a very bad mistake in their date book, or they are so unprofessional that they booked a more lucrative event on the same day without telling us that they would have to let us go. Either way, they acted unprofessionally and will never get my business. I will make sure that everyone I know understands that David Grant Catering is an unprofessional and untrustworthy business.
We had trays catered, of italian roasted chicked and tortellini primavera. The caterers were not available to provide other catering service on the day of our wedding, as we were ...

one to remember.
We had the ceremony on the beach and the staff set up the chairs outdoors and even brought them back inside to the tables.
The wedding started late (as most wedings do) so there was a rush to get the pictures taken but the staff ensured the wedding party paused and ate some appetizers.
Our family style dinner went well. The staff replenished the bowls of dishes as needed for our guests.
The staff was pleasant, helpful and knowlegdeable of special meal for specfic guests.
The staff helped to make our wedding like a fairytale.
Thank you David and your entire staff!!
