About this vendor
If life is a story, your wedding will undoubtedly be one of your favorite chapters. Our mission is to lift that moment from time and hold it suspended apart from all the others so that you can revisit it again and again throughout the decades of your marriage. In doing so, we'll work together to create a narrative inspired by laughter, love, family, and friends. In the end, this is your moment, your day, and your story. Let's experience the genuine smiles, the unaffected tears, and all the other unnoticed moments that show the true history — the true emotion — of your most special day.
After all, this chapter is about you, and I feel truly privileged to document it.

We couldn’t be happier with our experience with the DSP Team. From the first conversation with Dan to the final gallery, everything felt easy, professional, and genuinely fun. Thro...
ughout the entire process they did little things to make us feel special and taken care of, and that they were excited for our wedding day just as we were. They understood the importance of capturing those candid moments, while still getting those classic portraits. We had Anna capture our welcome party and our wedding day - she made us feel comfortable in front of the camera and captured so many beautiful, emotional moments without ever feeling intrusive.
The photos are absolutely stunning—natural, timeless, and full of life. Every time we look at them, we’re right back in that day. We have gotten countless compliments on our photos, and a re truly blown away by the quality. We’re so grateful we chose the DSP Team and would recommend them to any couple without hesitation.
Dan and his team of amazing photographers and videographers were the PERFECT people to capture all the joy that our wedding brought us. Some highlights:
-Dan goes out of his way t...
o establish a relationship with you as a couple. He gets to know you, asks insightful questions, sends you gifts and messages that he shows he cares and takes your wedding seriously, and (most importantly) he does the research needed to capture your wedding in a couple-curated way.
-Dan and his team are wonderful to actually have at the wedding. They’re non-intrusive, fun, and helpful in ways outside of just capturing great photos and videos. All lovely people.
-The actual photos and video are AMAZING. We have framed and catalogued so many of these, and are very grateful they will be with us forever. Also, we like filming and editing our own videos of life events in our free time, and even still I’m just blown away by the quality of the videos we received. They’re so much fun and wonderfully produced.
-While it was our least favorite part (as we felt a bit pressured by time constraints), his team that assembles our final photo album were kind and helpful and worked with us for 2+ hours to get our album to where we want it to be. Fortunately, the final product was immaculate.
Can’t recommend Dan and his team enough. They are caring professionals who made our wedding that much more special.

I could not be happier that we chose to use Dan Stewart Photography for our Northern Michigan wedding!
Dan was incredibly helpful in the planning process. We had several meetings ...
before the actual day, and all of the meetings felt intentional and well worth our time. Dan also put together a very thoughtful and helpful day-of schedule for us.
On the day of our wedding Dan and his assistant photographer Luke made both my husband and I feel very comfortable being photographed even as people who are generally uncomfortable in front of the camera. Dan's ability to convey all of the emotions of the day through his work was really impressive. The candids and posed shots are equally beautiful. All of our family and friends were truly impressed by the quality of the images, and we will treasure the photographs from our wedding forever!
Dan Stewart is an exceptional wedding photographer who exceeded our expectations in every way. From the moment we met him, we knew that he was the perfect person to capture our spe...
cial day.
First and foremost, Dan has incredible emotional intelligence. He took the time to understand what we wanted for our wedding and made us feel comfortable right from the start. He asked all the right questions and truly listened to our answers, which allowed him to capture the story of our families coming together and the little moments that made our day truly unforgettable.
But what really impressed us was Dan's intentionality. He didn't just take photos; he helped us focus on the significance of this experience. Throughout the 8 months we partnered with him ahead of our wedding, Dan showered us with thoughtful gifts and gestures that showed he truly cared about us as a couple. He sent us a date night package to help us enjoy the fun part of wedding planning, met up with us at our venue for an impromptu engagement photoshoot, and even sent us a gift card for our favorite coffee shop. These small acts of kindness showed us that Dan was invested in our relationship and wanted to help us cherish this special time in our lives.
As a photojournalist, Dan's skill in capturing candid moments and emotions is unparalleled. We were blown away by the number of moments he captured that went above and beyond what we expected from a typical wedding photographer. His knowledge of our venue, the Homestead in Glen Arbor, was also impressive, and he used it to its full potential to create stunning photos that we will treasure forever.
Finally, Dan's communication leading up to the wedding was consistently transparent and clear. We always felt like we were on the same page with him regarding our plan for the day, what was important to us that he captured, and about his pricing.
In short, working with Dan is an unforgettable experience and a perfect person to partner with for your wedding photography needs. His emotional intelligence, attention to detail, generosity, and clear communication make him a true professional and a joy to work with. We cannot recommend him highly enough.

What truly set Dan apart was his ability to make us feel comfortable and relaxed throughout the entire process. His meticulous planning meant we could enjoy every moment on our wedding day without any worries.
One standout moment was Dan's incredible intuition on our wedding day. Sensing my potential overwhelm while getting ready, Dan stepped in and gracefully managed the chaos, redirecting questions to the coordinator and allowing me the space that I needed :)... His professionalism, respect, and friendly demeanor made him feel more like a cherished friend than just our photographer.
Choosing Dan Stewart Photography was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. If you want not only stunning photos but also a photographer who becomes an invaluable part of your day, these guys are it.

nths to plan we were lucky to schedule both Dan and an additional photographer for our day and it was the best decision we could have made! I was lucky to grow up with Dan so to have his thoughts and insights on how we could plan and schedule our day made it all so special. From the beginning of the planning process, he helped us work through the details of getting ready at my childhood home and doing our first look on my beach while then still getting back to the Homestead in time to start the celebrations. He so easily kept us on schedule and got every shot while still making the day feel so relaxed and fun. His knowledge of our beautiful area, and especially the Homestead, was so appreciated. Not even a few days after the event, we started to receive our sneak peaks and after a month we had our entire collection. And to say we have never seen anything more beautiful, would be an understatement. The story that Dan and Ashley captured was exactly how that day felt. So relaxed, so fun, and just so absolutely beautiful. We were literally speechless! Dan, thank you so much for making our story come to life, we are forever grateful!

pher, he helped out so much with our wedding and made sure everything went smoothly and we cannot thank him enough! He was fun to work with, and made the whole picture taking experience easy and fun. And the PICTURES! They came out so beautifully. He does such an incredible job of not only capturing beautiful pictures, but also the story behind the pictures. Everyone has been extremely impressed with the quality of our photos. Our wedding would not have been as incredible without him!
Dan is professional, and amazing at what he does! We got married on a Saturday and got our photos back the week after. The quickest turn around time and the quality of photos was e...
xceptional. I feel like Dan really captured my guests personalities and I never felt like I had to focus too much on taking photos. I feel like I just got to be myself all day and not spend time posing or doing something that felt forced. Dan was super non obtrusive and somehow every where and able to capture all the right moments. He's a stealth ninja photographer while capturing beautiful photos. He also knows the right times to be directive and how to get 140+ people to line up for a photograph. He was super organized during family photos and on top of it. He was really professional and we had several calls leading up to the day so we weren't meeting him on the wedding day. Dan also sent an extremely thoughtful package after our wedding that had a hand drawn photo of our ceremony location and other goodies. I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for amazing photos and someone easy to work with.
We had Anna from Dan Stewart Photography take photos at our wedding and she was phenomenal! Not only was she comforting when we were stressed about timing, but she also made it nat...
ural to take photos with her. You spend most of your day with your photographer, so we picked the right company that has staff who make sure you enjoy your day first and foremost. On top of that, we have the most lovely photos. Everyone talks about our sunset photos. They also send some select print outs, a mug, and a painted image of our sunset photo session. Their editing was a lot quicker than anyone I know who had a wedding and they did a great job with editing. Can't recommend them enough!
Dan did an absolutely incredible job. I am going to try and convey how much we enjoyed working with him and how much we love the pictures he provided, but I don’t know if I can do ...
it justice.
Dan was professional and timely throughout the entire process. Not only is he professional and pleasant, but he is also truly an artist and phenomenal at what he does. He has the ability to make you calm in all the chaos of wedding planning. We booked him for just photography originally, but he ended up providing us a videographer too! 3 days before the wedding and on our way up to Traverse City we got a call from our videographer (different company) that they were cancelling on us. We immediately texted Dan, told him what happened, and asked if he knew anyone that could be our videographer at the last minute. Within 5 minutes of me texting him Dan he called me, and in less than 2 hours after we talked he had found us a videographer and we had a contract with him signed. The day of the wedding Dan showed up with Scott (also works at Dan Stewart Photography) and they were incredible. All day we had people telling us how professional they both were and how nice they both were.
They truly went above and beyond with the services they provide and I cannot recommend them enough.
We had Anna as our photographer for our engagement and wedding photos. She is INCREDIBLE. She is amazing to work with, as is the whole staff at Dan Stewart, and she is so creative....
She perfectly captured our day and I know we'll continue to use Dan Stewart for every milestone in our life moving forward.
I cannot say enough good things about Dan!! From the moment we met with him all the way through to the very last moment on our wedding day, Dan was so helpful, kind, and thoughtful...
. He's also a very calming presence amidst what can be a highly stressful process!
He clearly knows this business and it shows. Even my parents were impressed (and they are very rarely impressed). Literally everyone who came to the wedding commented afterwards on how professional Dan was, how efficient he was at the family portraits (so we didn't miss out on too much of the cocktail hour!), and how aware he was of what was going on and where he should be to capture moments we'll want to remember. All of this means that the photos (which he turned around in the shortest timeframe EVER) were stunning. Making the album and figuring out which ones to print is going to be so tough (but a great problem to have)!
We almost didn't go with Dan because his services were on the more expensive end of what we were looking at but I am SO glad we did. You'll have no regrets with him!
We had the pleasure of working with Anna for both our engagement photoshoot and for our wedding. She was absolutely amazing. Our photos should be in a magazine, she is so skilled. ...
Her fun and caring personality helped to ease our nerves and enjoy the day. She is so sweet and personal and we talked several times leading up to the wedding to go over timeline and shots that were important to me. My bridal party also loved her and said she made the morning of so much fun.

ures of us, she was with us every step of the way with helping us create a timeline and making us feel comfortable in front of the camera. I loved having her there by my side the whole day - the best wingwoman ever! Thank you so much for the beautiful photos we will have for a lifetime! We are so grateful.

I and wanted to get to know us.
My husband and I had never had professional photos taken prior to our engagement photos. Dan made us feel comfortable and did just the right combination of candid and posed photos.
Dan was so helpful throughout the wedding planning process. He created our entire wedding day schedule. He met with us multiple times to make sure everything was falling into place.
Dan has such an extensive knowledge of photography and journalism. We had no doubt that the photos he took would turn out beautifully. And they did!
Dan was so calm on our wedding day and encouraged everyone else to be the same. He kept us on our schedule. He had a great attitude and made the photos fun.
We love the photos he took for us. They don’t feel over-edited and are perfectly candid. We gave Dan a few ideas of locations for our photos and he scoped them out before hand to see what would look the best at what time of day. Dan and his associate did a great job of splitting up at our wedding and reception so that they could capture many different moments, both of our wedding party and our guests.
I would highly recommend working with Dan and his team! We hope to work with Dan again for future photos.

ere so helpful. The photos came out absolutely beautifully; we couldn't be happier. We watched the slideshow of photos after the wedding and teared up immediately because the pictures really captured the emotions of our day - on our faces and our guests'. Compared to my other vendors, Dan really stood out in terms of professionalism and organization - he has a great portal for planning and payments and he proactively scheduled meetings to go through every little detail. I can't say enough how comforting that was; I felt totally confident that he knew and cared about all of our details. Throughout the process, he reminds you not to get caught up in the little things and to enjoy it - we felt like he was really on our team, and we enjoyed everything even more because of that!

They were very professional, communicated well through the entire process and delivered on EVERYTHING we asked for the day of our wedding!!! Not only do they know what they're doing, but they listened to what we wanted. If we lived closer to the area, we'd use them for all our photography needs! Loved this team!

ng, Dan was an absolute professional. He is organized, efficient, and thorough. I felt like I could let loose and relax at my wedding because I trusted that he had everything under control. I didn't realize this until afterward, but your photographer runs your wedding day. The timeline is so important and Dan Stewart executes it so well. It is clear that he cares about you, your love, and about capturing your moments. His client experience is stellar. I am so grateful.

Dan is responsive, creative, fun, and professional- we really enjoyed our time with him.
Save yourself the research and just book them now. The proof is in the stunning photos that will last a lifetime.
Dan was amazing to work with. Due to covid, we had a small ceremony in 2020 and a large ceremony and reception in 2021 and Dan was incredibly flexible in letting us split our time ...
between the two events - 2 hours in 2020 and 7 hours in 2021. He was a calming presence during the planning process and his experience comes through as cool confidence. During both our 2020 and 2021 weddings he was practically invisible during the ceremony and still managed to get some amazing shots! He had so many good suggestions while doing the couples pictures that ended up making the pictures look great while still feeling relaxed. During our 2021 wedding, we did several large group family photos (multiple groups of >15 people) and he told us based on our list of 20 combinations, he could get it done in 15 minutes. We didn't believe him, but lo and behold, we got to our cocktail hour just 15 minutes after it started.
All of that detail barely commented on the incredible quality of the photos he provided. You can see his portfolio online, but what's worth knowing is that he's not just selecting the best photos to show off - every picture Dan gave us looked as good as everything on the website. All in all, Dan is an incredible photographer as well as exactly the type of person you want on your team for your big day (or in our case days).
The best of the best! Dan and his team are so so good at what they do. He made us feel so comfortable and relaxed throughout our entire wedding day. Everything was so organized and...

closely with Dan and Anna from 2019-2021 to plan our big day. The attention, love, and kindness they showed us throughout the wedding planning process was exceptional - we knew we were in good hands. On the big day, Anna made us feel completely at ease and comfortable (and even made the process fun for my husband who is not big on pictures!). Anna was an absolute joy to work with and took the stress out of photos while capturing thoughtful and loving moments. We just got our photos back and it is such a dream to relieve the magic - they exceeded our expectations. Thank you, Anna, for perfectly capturing the best day of our lives!

r eyes. Our favorite pictures that were created are the ones where we are not looking at the camera. The reason for this, is that all of our focus was on the moment entirely. These photos spark so much more emotion and happiness; they transport you to that moment.
They say that the biggest regret a bride and groom have on their wedding expenditures, is not investing more in their photographer. I am a big believer in the phrase "you get what you pay for" and I am so happy that we invested what we did.

etting in her way to take their own pictures. She displayed professionalism and incredible communication. She checked in often and gave me some very welcomed advice for some of the general planning and typical events of the big day so I knew what to expect. The pictures speak for themselves. The quality, emotion and passion in them makes it impossible not to relive the day every time we go through them. The memories that come with these images are priceless. I would highly recommend Dan Stewart Photography to capture your special event.

tely on task and professional. He made sure to understand what types of pictures we wanted before our ceremony and helped us make a workable timeline. Luke arrived early and scoped out our venue, A Matter of Taste@Tapawingo. He found some incredible hidden-treasure backgrounds to make some amazing shots. He encouraged us to do "first look" photos and we were happy he suggested it! During the ceremony and reception he blended in so well that we almost didn't know he was there! We recommend Dan Stewart Photography for their guaranteed quality products and artistic abilities. What we were most impressed by was their communication before, during and after the wedding. WE LOVED OUR PICTURES! Luke can we do it all over again????!!!!

e gig, their work is worth every penny. We had Anna from DSP (though you will see that you'd be well taken care of with any of the photographers from DSP):
- The booking process was made incredibly easy, and they were happy to cater to a few adjustments. We were able to save some money by opting for one photographer and for 7 hours instead of the full day.
- DSP handled the uncertainties of COVID with professionalism and excellent communication (not a luxury I received from every vendor)
- Anna first took a small engagement session. While we were originally planning on forgoing these (we had been engaged for quite some time) I would encourage everybody to do it to get to know their photographer. We learned right away that Anna is incredibly sweet and easy to work with.
- I can't say enough great things about Anna's work. The pictures will speak for themselves, but I would like to note that Anna is, at baseline, a great human being. She was organized, a great communicator, professional and was a very calming and happy presence at our wedding.
You will find at first look of their pictures if their aesthetic is right for you. If you're anything like me, you'll observe that it's the perfect balance between natural with the right amount of editing and not overly light like many other wedding photographers. Cheers and enjoy this great company! I'd choose them again in a heartbeat.
Dan Stewart Photography did an amazing job capturing our special day! I came across Dan Stewart Photography through a vendor list provided by our initial wedding venue. We live in ...
Ohio and wanted a Northern Michigan wedding, and after seeing their work on Instagram, we knew we wanted Dan Stewart Photography to capture our day! The pandemic threw us a couple curve balls, but Dan Stewart Photography was understanding and very flexible with our needs. Communication with Dan was smooth and easy, something a Bride appreciates while planning a wedding, especially being 4.5 hours away!
Dan himself was unavailable to photograph our wedding, but he works with two amazing photographers named Anna and Luke, he provided us with some of their work and let us choose who’s style fit us best. We agreed that Anna’s work was more our style. Let me tell you, she is AWESOME to work with! Anna makes you feel comfortable in front of the camera, she takes suggestions, and her creative ideas make for beautiful photos! Not only did Anna photograph our wedding, we were able to sneak in a mini beach shoot a few months before our wedding since our first engagement pictures with a different photographer were sort of a flop.
Traverse City is OUR place. It’s where we’ve made many memories together, so it was very important for us to get married there and find someone to capture our wedding day. We have definitely found our “forever” photographer and will be making many trips to Traverse City for Anna from Dan Stewart Photography to capture our future memories! Even though we chose Anna to capture our special day, after seeing Dan and Luke’s work, you can’t go wrong with any photographer at Dan Stewart Photography!

They made taking all of the pictures fun and looking back at the pictures now, it really made such a difference! All of the pictures came out beautiful and I feel like they really captured "us" on our wedding day, not just us posing for the pictures. It truly was an incredible experience and I would recommend them without hesitation!
When looking for a wedding photographer, my husband and I looked at nearly every photographer in northern Michigan! As soon as I saw Dan's photos, I knew that we had to have him as...
our photographer. Things only got better from there. He came highly recommended by every single one of our vendors and once we met him we knew why. Not only is he a phenomenal photographer, but a phenomenal person. Dan was so thoughtful throughout our entire engagement and really cared about getting to know us as individuals, not just clients.
On top of all of that, once covid hit, Dan was with us every step of the way. He was extremely accommodating and never skipped a beat. It was no surprise when our photos turned out incredible. I know we will be using Dan for many memories throughout our lives!
Anna from Dan Stewart Photography photographed our small intimate wedding ceremony in July and she was amazing. When we first hired DSP, our original wedding plans were much bigger...
but thanks to COVID that all changed. We were able to change our date to 2021 but still decided to have a smaller ceremony this year. Anna was very easy to work with and the photos she took were amazing. We received our photos within a week of our wedding and it will be hard to choose which ones to print. We can't wait for next year's wedding to do it all over again with her!
Incredible Experience and Memorable Shots!
After I got engaged, I knew what photographer to use. Dan shot my niece’s wedding and I was enamored by her wedding photos. But before ...
I told my preference to my family, my sister and sister in-law recommended him. I told them, he was the one I wanted, so we were in agreement.
My then fiancé was sold after we met him in person for the first time. He was engaging, humble, humorous, and inquisitive about how my fiancé and I met, our hobbies, faith, and desires. After that meeting, Dan felt like a friend, not just a vendor.
Throughout the process, he was organized. I felt more confident witnessing how professional and experienced he was.
On our wedding, Dan and his associate, Luke, were incredible throughout! They worked closely with us to make sure they captured the moments we wanted along with the unexpected and spontaneous. And during the family pictures, he and Luke went through them systematically but with enough flexibility to capture the right shots.
He worked well with kids in our wedding party too and worked well with the videographer he met that day, making sure she could capture the shots and footage she needed.
He’s patient, thorough, and fun to work with. Smiling for hundreds of shots isn’t always enjoyable, but Dan and Luke added grace and joy to make it easier and more enjoyable than I expected! And Dan’s creative, working to capture a unique shot he might not always do with another couple. I appreciate the customization! He’s not just going through the motions but working hard to make sure our wedding photos will be unique and memorable.
The pictures Dan and Luke captured are stunning and beautiful. And they were able to shoot so many intimate and touching moments that made us cry when we saw them. We will enjoy seeing them over and over throughout our lives.
