Dan Sauer Photography

Dan never made me feel ignorant or neurotic. He was responsive, easy going and the correct mix of casual and professional.

oth classic and unique. We knew we weren't going to hire a videographer, so we needed to make sure our photographs really were able to capture what it was like being there, and Dan's photos did just that, and even went beyond our expectations. His photos have a journalistic flare versus something more staged, and it makes all the difference when we revisit the photos from that day. Dan was also so organized throughout the process and communicated well and always made himself available. Day of, he was a very calming presence and gave great direction during portraits. I've been to weddings where the portraits can be stressful and confusing but this was not the case at all with Dan. We would highly recommend Dan to any couple!

ost diligent and decent way. All of our guests kept telling us how much they appreciated Dan for his incredible work. When we saw the photos, we not only re-lived the party. Dan's photography elevates the experience and transforms it in his incredible way of seeing people celebrating their love.

is photos were showing but most of all his sweet and amazing personality! Prior to our big day he communicated with us multiple times to make sure our schedule was aligned and included all the special moments that we asked for. Overall, working with him was very easy and fun. We love our wedding pictures and will recommend Dan for all our friends’ special events!

sy to communicate with from the start. He has a complete people person and scheduled a virtual call to chat about our requirements and expectations. Next when we landed in Italy, he touched base with us and kept us posted on the photoshoot logistics. When Dan arrived with a bright smile on his face, he came as a friend and as a photographer. He made us feel so comfortable capturing a great range of authentic moments as well as some effortlessly natural portraits! He is so great with using light as well as beautiful moments and compositions. We also had time to relax and take in the exotic places we were visiting, everything felt so natural and had great flow. We ended our shoot with an awesome dinner to which Dan was invited as a guest, where we got to know him even better! In about a month we received our full gallery with such a beautiful collection of photos. I don't even know where to start on the photos! Each one is better than the next, we have no idea where and how to pick the photos to share with our friends and family! Dan has a great eye, wonderful personality and will make you enjoy the photography experience from start to end! We cannot wait to have him photograph us again!

nt shoot. Dan is not only a fantastic artist but is so kind, thoughtful and intentional in really guiding to get the most breathtaking photos, capturing both the landscape and portrait photos. Thank you Dan for providing us with memories that will last forever!!

Dan went the extra mile for us, both in the rescheduling of our big day, as well as scouting out the best locations for when the light would be absolutely perfect. Dan is so meticulous in getting the shot he wants, while still allowing you time to feel like it’s just the two of you and no one else is around. That’s a very tough line to walk, but he does it expertly. We were beyond impressed with our photos and are excited to share them with our families and the world!

not only was a great photographer but the type that could catch the right moments. The candid, in the moment photos, Dan is able to capture is what makes his photography exceptional. Not only was his work great, but so was he. Dan has a very cool calm and collected personality and when nerves are high, that is the kind of person you want around on the big day. Dan had a way of not making me feel posed, or stiff in photos because he wanted to just capture the moments where we were at our best so the photos looked natural. Do yourself a favor and stop your search here. You will be hard pressed to find a better wedding photographer for an affordable price.

ured with special lighting techniques are unreal!), but he also ensures that he gets to know you as a couple in order to document your special day in a way that uniquely represents your personality and style. He does all of this in a seemingly effortless way that only he can do! Given the size of our wedding, Danny recommended and enlisted another photographer to assist him and make sure no special moments were missed, and her work was lovely as well. Our family, bridal party, and guests all commented how enjoyable it was to work with Danny; not to mention the endless praise for the final photos we've received ever since! He just captured everyone's personality (including our dog the ring bearer!) so well. He has a genuine, journalistic style of photography that documents moments--big and small--that together, are greater than the sum of their parts. If it's not already obvious, we could not recommend Danny more highly!

made everyone feel at ease and captured all of our special moments. We are very pleased with the quality of the photos and the quick turnaround time in which we received them. Everyone was impressed with our beautiful and epic wedding photos. I would highly recommend Dan Sauer Photography to my friends and family.

ur lives. Dan was INCREDIBLE. Not only was he very friendly and even able to put my camera-shy husband at ease, but his pictures were just phenomenal. We get compliments every single day still about the pictures from our wedding and first look (and the wedding was a full month ago). Dan's photography was better than we could have even imagined. We wish we could give him 10 stars instead of just five! Wholeheartedly recommended.

outh however, Dan was our best pick! From the moment we had our initial Skype chat we both felt at ease. He took the time to keep in frequent contact leading up to our big day and even sent forms for us to fill out our preferences. This meant he had very limited questions on the day. On our wedding day Dan was extremely professional. He turned up well dressed and presentable. If anything he blended in like one of our guests. We didn't want many staged pictures and wanted very natural shots. For staged pictures he was firm but fair whizzing through them within 15mins so our guests could go and have drinks and canapés. Our pictures by far are amazing. We cried when we saw all of them. He captured the essence of our Ravello wedding, the scenery, the finer details and atmosphere. The picture quality is incredible. He even added additional pictures of Ravello as well as our Pizza party the night before which was the cherry on top of the cake. Overall fantastic service and brilliantly captured memories. Thank you Dan!

ral light, and the beauty of the elements is unparalleled. In scheduling the shoot, Dan was gracious and flexible to find a time that worked best for us and suggested a spot that was well researched, conveniently located for both parties and a backdrop that offered a lot of variety. For the shoot itself, Dan arrived early, scouted out the landscape, so that by the time we arrived, he was good to go, greeted us, offered us water, and we got going! He never was rushed and used several camera bodies and lenses to capture a variety of shots. As our first photoshoot as a couple, Dan did a wonderful job setting expectations and coaching us through the poses and composition for each shot. His professionalism is next level and his presence is relaxing and peaceful. Time really flew while we were shooting with Dan! For something that anticipated to be slightly awkward, somehow, Dan helped it be enjoyable, fun and even therapeutic. It was a great bonding experience for my fiancé and me! We received the photos on the timeline we were promised, and the delivery was seamless and simple for downloading and sharing the photos. The final results are stunning. The composition and lighting of his work is Caravaggio-esque. He delivers one-of-a-kind work that I haven’t seen from any other photographer and I’ve received countless compliments on our photos! My fiancé and I truly couldn’t be happier with our photos and we’ll treasure them for a lifetime! Thank you, Dan!

y about all of the photos on our wedding day (I don’t love the spotlight) but Dan made me feel comfortable and eased all my fears. He is great at capturing amazing photos in an unobtrusive way that feels natural and captured every detail of our day. On our wedding day, Dan was flexible with last minute schedule and location changes due to heat and so easy to work with! I highly recommend Dan Sauer Photography!

ding prep process, and he was proactive in making sure he knew everything we wanted in our photos. We are extremely pleased with his work and have his photos hanging all over our house. We highly recommend Dan!

s, I was toying between two individuals; however, my gut led me and my husband to Dan. Dan's portfolio is superb. He was able to capture images with a journalistic flare, while maintaining the necessary compositions in creating beautiful work. Upon choosing Dan, he reached out , set timelines prior to the wedding and a complete professional (organizationally, personal, tenure, etc.). For the day of, Dan ventured down from Florence to Rome, was prompt and personal. He was attentive to space, needs, timing... conducted his own shots around the hotel room (e.g. flowers, shoes, dress) while giving space. Throughout the remainder of the day, Dan was there without being there. He captured so many hidden and beautiful shots I never anticipated would have been caught. I look at all of the photos he took and I well up. Without him my day would have never been showcased in such fashion, nor the timeline and morsel of each minute have been found. I cannot thank Dan enough for his artistic ability and passion behind the lens. If I can give any reader a few tips: 1. Trust your gut 2. Trust in the power of reviews 3. Trust in the photographs captured by Dan Sauer He is a true pleasure and joy - all the best Dan! xox

I was so captivated by Dan's work that I reached out to the person who posted the photo and asked for Dan's contact information. While many wedding photographers wash out their backgrounds and make all images appear bright and airy, Dan's work truly stands out as warm, emotional, memorable, and full of depth. The booking process with Dan was a breeze, very reasonable cost, and minimal back-and-forth prior to the big day. Day of, Dan was such a calming presence and focused on capturing candid moments. Looking back at all the incredible photos we received from Dan, there are some shots where I truly didn't even realize Dan was around shooting the moment. Dan is a storyteller through his work, and that approach makes his photos stand out. I can't tell you how many friends and family told us that Dan was the best wedding photographer they'd ever experienced. We could go on and on gushing about Dan, so I'll just say a heartfelt THANK YOU for capturing our day so perfectly.

y. We didn’t get a wedding video but after looking at the pictures Dan took, we realized we never really needed one! He brought the day to life and we could relive every moment from his shots. On the day of he was calm and organized, keeping us on schedule and reassuring us that we had plenty of time for all the pics we wanted to take. Above all he created some much needed alone time for me and my husband. He took us aside for some photos and told us to take a moment for the two of us, to hold each other close, close our eyes, and just soak up our first moments as husband and wife. He took a few pictures during that precious time together and those are some of our favorite shots! Thank you Dan for all your hard work and sharing your gift and skill as a storyteller and photographer with us!

hotographer who is living abroad is a crazy idea, but because we were planning our Southern California wedding from Chicago, we already were working with all of our vendors long-distance, and Dan truly made the experience of working together seamless. His photography is both art and poetry in an image! His ability to capture an emotion, a memory, an exuberant, fleeting feeling, a moment is an amazing gift and invaluable quality in a photographer. We will treasure these photographs for all of our lives, and are endlessly grateful to Dan for his skilled photography (of course), but also his authenticity, his artistic capacity, beautiful vision, easygoing manner and his humility.

mories we have in our pictures.

, but Dan quickly put us at ease. He was great to work with and he captured a lot of moments we didn't even know he saw. It's so special getting to see those intimate, unplanned, unposed pieces of your day. Dan is very talented and professional, but also relaxed and calm (which you need every bit of on your big day.) He gave us direction when needed and also just let us be us and caught it all. I highly recommend him and can't thank him enough for our photos!

ws. If you have a destination wedding in your future, Dan must be your photographer. He goes the extra mile. He creatively does his homework scoping out incredibly beautiful locations to compliment and create backdrops for outstanding and unforgettable photographs. We couldn't be happier with the results. The pictures Dan captured are simply priceless! Dan, thank you so much for being part of our incredibly special day. We couldn't have asked for anything more beautiful or perfect than having you capture all the special moments of our love story. We watched the slideshow with joyful tears streaming down our cheeks, and literally sat speechless as we relived our special day through the pictures you captured. Dan is a true artist with an eye for capturing the pure essence of excitement, love and joy expressed by the happy couple, family and guests. He is kind soul, a wonderful romantic who truly enjoys your wedding experience. Dan is wonderfully creative and has the ability to create a calm, unhurried atmosphere, with an enthusiasm that's contagious. Whether young or old, Dan is so kind and respectful and his work is truly outstanding.

. We loved how detail-orientated Dan was from beginning to end, and how he prioritized what we wanted captured from our wedding. Our photos came out romantic, mysterious, and GORGEOUS! Highly recommend.

pectful. He knows exactly the best shots to take. We were amazed by all of our pictures and cannot recommend him enough. His photos are breathtaking!

you need on your wedding day. He will take any shot you want, and won't waste your time taking shots you don't. He also has such a great eye for unique shots. There were so many "magazine" worthy images in our finished album, and we are so happy with how every photo turned out. We could not recommend Dan enough! You will be so lucky to have him shoot your wedding!

d his style using rich colors. We hired him for our Henna Party and Wedding and he was very attentive, and was not in your face at all and we forgot that he was even there! The photos came out spectacular and our family and friends are incredibly impressed by him! We cannot wait to have another event to hire him! Dan Sauer delivers on every promise he makes! He is incredible!!!!

have someone professional, dedicated and, most importantly, that turns out amazing pictures! He was all three, and more. Rely on his experience, it shows.

me. We could not have asked for a better photographer for our engagement, bridals, and wedding photos. We loved every minute of having Dan a part of our special days!

edding! I'll start with the inquiry process, wedding day morning and wedding day afternoon review. TLDR: Hire Dan, he will give you the best photos and the best service - you won't EVER regret it! Also, follow him on instagram! Inquiry Process: Dan was very easy to work with from the beginning. He responded quickly to emails and he was quick to set up a phone call to learn more about our wedding priorities. He was straight forward and honest throughout the process. Very early on he gave us a portal to look at a more in depth portfolio of photos and prices. The price point for our budget (we covered about 2/3 of the overall budget on our own) seemed a bit high at first. However, once we compared the reviews of others, the quality of the photos, and the dedication to service, we discovered that Dan's would unquestionable be the best option for us. There were a few other photographer vendors that offered discounts or "special packages" that did not really fit our needs. We lived in Dallas, TX, but the wedding was in Wichita, KS, and Dan at the time was out in Los Angeles, CA. Since Wichita is a small market, we had to expand our search to all of Kansas, Oklahoma, and even the Dallas area. The vendors in Kansas City were less flexible (we contacted 5 other vendors) than Dan! We also noticed that the photos from those other vendors did not have the serious or intimate quality that we were looking for. Since we were trying to plan ahead, Dan did work with us on payment arrangements. Thank you again for being flexible on that note! The Wedding Day: After all the inquiries and work with different vendors, I come back to two important details: you want someone you can trust and someone who has a VERY positive attitude. For newly engaged couples out there, the last thing you want to worry about on the actual wedding day is what your vendors are doing. We had planned out a wedding day timeline (which came close to predicting time for activities, but we inevitable got off track). Dan would start with the ladies for the hair/make-up/dress up, then switch to see the guys do dress up and photos of the church. The hair/make-up took longer than expected (whatever you are planning for that time add another hour - trust me) and Dan went perfectly with the flow. My wife later told me that he brought some nice levity to the group. We had a shorter time with the guys, and that was totally fine. He was also quick to set up at the church when we started to get into crunch time. The photos he got of the mass were amazing, and he got some beautiful photos with the group on the church steps as a mariachi band played for us. The real highlight of the day came before the dinner started. Our reception was at Botanica in Wichita, KS, and we had photos taken throughout the garden. We knocked out a some group shots, but then Dan walked us through our one on one photo shoot. The words of wisdom he shared to set the mood for us to feel like we were the only two people in the world made us feel very special. We when got the photos after the wedding I looked at them and thought "who are those models," only to realize it is my wife and I! That is an awesome feeling to have! I wish I had more characters to type up a fuller review, but this will have to do. Dan, thank you again!

ights” pictures. He is professional, nice, calm, and overall just a pleasure to work with. His pictures are out of this world. Just a tip, when deciding what additions to have him do, just let him do all of it including the photo book. We thought we would do it ourselves, but still haven’t gotten to it 6 months after.

se there are so many genius shots! He is creative, artistic and extremely professional and I would recommend him for anyone for any occasion. The romantic shots he took are hands down our favorites!

pher. He was organized, supportive, thoughtful, and a true pleasure to work with. He was diligent about answering any pre-wedding questions we had, made sure we had proper lists of all the photos we wanted to have (and then made sure they actually got taken!). On wedding day, he (and Annie, his second - equally awesome photographer) arrived right on schedule, with tons of energy and enthusiasm. We were truly in awe of how that energy lasted ALL day & into the night. My husband and I are not necessarily the greatest at posing for pictures, but Dan & Annie made us feel really comfortable and look like we knew how to take a picture :) At numerous points throughout the wedding, I would see something happening or a group of people together and think 'it would be great to have a photo of this' - I would turn around and Dan would already be there. He was everywhere we wanted him to be, without being intrusive or cutting into any of the fun. Best part? His pictures are INCREDIBLE. We cannot stop looking at them. He caught everything from sentimental moments, funny & fun dancing shots, details, romantic photos - and each of them looks better than the last. He also caught moments that we were unable to see (we, unlike Dan - could not be everywhere at once!). He had the professional knack to call out where the best lighting was and what the best locations for certain shots were. At one point he even got down in the grass/dirt to make sure he got the best angle for a particular shot. His priority was making sure we looked great, and we think he nailed it! The pictures truly take us right back to our wedding day and help us relive that special weekend over and over again. I wish Dan could photograph my entire life - we STRONGLY recommend him. Thanks so much Dan!!!

ith Dan was. We had two ceremonies that were back to back; a traditional Cambodian ceremony on Friday and your normal western ceremony on Saturday. We knew that the Friday ceremony was going to be a challenge so we had phone conferences with different photographers and were very happy with our conversation with Dan. We met with him a couple of days later and hit it off! He had a 6AM start on Friday and he was there even before that! Dan was professional, punctual, accommodating, and was very fair with our pricing. I’m very awkward and shy when a camera is around but he made me feel comfortable the whole time. I was even on the verge of passing out once and asked him to grab me water during our ceremony and he took care of it! The photos were turned around quickly and we love them! I would absolutely recommend that you have Dan shoot your special day!

ve, and, most importantly, the photos were absolutely stunning.

ng. They were so kind and fun and easy to work with. They got a ton of great candid shots, as well as all the regular posed photos we had asked for. You can tell Dan and Jerry love what they do, and they are brilliant at it! My husband and I still talk about how lucky we were to have found Dan Sauer Photography for our wedding (which I like to take credit for). :) Even our guests commented on how much fun they had posing on the dance floor. I would recommend Dan and Jerry in a heartbeat!

from the moment we met! During our consultation, he talked with us about our expectations and how we met and really took us on a beautiful journey down memory lane. Happily for us, Dan is adventurous and met us on a hiking trail in Malibu for our engagement shoot (he was willing to go anywhere we wanted to go!). It was wild and great fun. He even held our radio so we could have background music throughout the shoot. It was a hot and sometimes steep journey but Dan was patient, upbeat, and professional throughout the entire session. Dan was super communicative and accommodating with us and he was the same way with our coordinator. On or our wedding day, Dan was with us at the crack of dawn and was by our side through the late evening. I especially appreciate his courtesy toward our relatives who believed they were the pro photographers - I saw about five of them give him their cameras to take pics of us. Dan just rolled with the punches and took the pics with a smile (sorry Dan!!). Overall, I really appreciate Dan's communication and professionalism with us throughout the process, and his delivery of our pics on time. The pics are so beautiful and capture our love and playfulness toward each other. Dan. Is. The. Man!!!

rtain shots that we needed. He was by our side every moment. I recommend Dan for any photography needs

wedding photos. We also did an engagement session with him, and it was fun and easy. On our wedding day, both Dan and his second shooter were extremely professional, and captured all of the important moments while staying under the radar (something we both definitely wanted!). Our wedding photos turned out STUNNING and we are SO happy we chose him. He is kind, talented, and easily one of the best values in LA. Thank you for everything, Dan!!

g, and calming on that special and stressful day. You (should) only have one wedding day in your life, and we have absolutely no regrets in choosing Dan as the one to capture that day in photos thats we will have for the rest of our lives! Thank you, Dan!

perfectly, some we even forgot happened til we saw the photos ha! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for sharing your gift of perspective with us in such a real & powerful way. We can't wait til we get the second email so we can download the photos and post them without the little limes on them bahah!! And order some wrapped canvas for our home. You really knocked it out of the park. We sat at Bootlegger's brewery for two hours looking at them and laughing out loud with joy and exclaiming over the various details and just had a blast. Personally, I have never seen myself look so happy. I'm always having fun or hanging out but this was different. You made us both feel even more calm and at peace and it wasn't odd to be having our photos taken all the time, felt normal!! And I never knew I smiled like that!! You caught it all and I'm so glad to see with my own eyes how fantastically he & I bring out the best in each other. Thank you thank you thank you. We wish you a wonderful weekend, and certainly hope our paths cross again!! 🖤🖤🖤 "Laughter is the language of the soul" -Pablo Neruda

the surrounding natural beauty as inspiration. His photos captured the majesty of the scenery, while ensuring my fiancee and I remained the focal point of the shoot. Dan easily meshed his style with our demands and taste. Working with him was very fun, enjoyable, and stress-free. Dan is everything you want from a photographer: creative, dedicated, and professional.

o session I knew it was going to be great! He made my boyfriend and I feel very comfortable. It was such a special day; Dan really did capture our love connection! I was very impressed with his artistic eye and his ability to capture the beauty of nature AND the beauty of love. I will treasure these photos forever. You will not regret your decision to have Dan as your photographer!
