Because we elected against a videographer for our wedding day and my notorious knack for sticking my tongue out at cameras (I HATE taking pictures), finding the right photographer for our photographs was going to be crucial. For me, meeting Chantal for the first time at her studio ranks up there with the moments of finding our wedding venue, finding my dream dress, and last but certainly not least, finding the perfect pair of blue shoes. Just like our experiences with finding each of these other key wedding components, Chantal fit with us so well that we knew she was the perfect person to put art to our wedding story. Chantal has the most wonderful personality, and she was able to put my husband and I at ease whenever we worked with her. She guided us through our posed “have to do because you are getting/are married” pictures so that even the most un-photogenic person (aka me) could look wedding picture frame to even, dare I say, cover model-esque. Even so, the best pictures that we have are those taken at times when we didn’t even know she was there or when we were in our element...being goofy, flirty, and happy together. What I find truly amazing about Chantal's work is the quality, the emotion, and the depth that she is able to infuse into her photographs. One of our most successful sets includes a series of candid pictures capturing the moment that I jumped on my husband for an impromptu piggyback ride during our engagement photography session. Happiness and playfulness emanated from his face while I went from expressing my sheer elation when I realized he wasn’t going to drop me to bliss and serenity as I held on to him and he held on to me. These pictures are priceless and display our personality as a couple completely. In other photographs, you can feel the intensity of the moment through the image. One of my favorite of these photographs focuses on my husband sitting contemplatively in a chair during his “getting ready” session. He looks so handsome, in control, and confident. Of course, I may be bias because he is my husband, but this photograph captures the true essence of the great man that I am in love with and who I am lucky to have in my life. In addition to translating human emotion into her art, Chantal creates beautiful images with some of the most visually intriguing photographs involving those taken of my wedding dress. Through technique, angle, or just magic, Chantal reached beyond the constraints of being able to only capture a single moment in time in two dimension by creating the illusion that my dress was still moving while I was in the midst of a shimmy or a twirl. Being one popular lady with an amazing travel schedule, I will say that Chantal is, at times, difficult to track down but she is well worth the wait. Her genuine love for photography makes Chantal Lawrie a necessity for anyone who appreciates visual art, and her kind, laid back, unassuming demeanor makes her a joy to be around. I only hope that these words effectively convey the truly incredible artist that she is as well as our endless gratitude for the memories that she so successful immortalized.

Thankfully she was ok, but we began running out time to take pictures. Chantal told me not to worry and is being so amazing at making sure the pictures are what we wanted. Our pictures are gorgeous; Chantal appreciates natural surroundings that will make you and your groom stand out. Our pictures are vibrant and romantic, and we couldn't be happier. On top of all this, Chantal is wonderful! She is calm and experienced, and she helped put both of us at ease. Having to pretend to laugh when nothing is funny or when you're nervous is not easy, and yet Chantal makes it happen. My husband kept commenting to me after the shoot how comfortable Chantal made him feel, so much so that I think he actually enjoyed taking the pictures! Everything about the engagement shoots (we had 2) felt romantic and natural, nothing felt forced or not like "us." On the day of the wedding, Chantal and her husband Paul were as great as I expected them to be. They showed up early, took our pictures without taking too much time away from our time with family and each other, and during the ceremony and reception, I barely noticed them there. They stayed till the end, and were such a joy to have around. Chantal is the consumate professional, and a kind person as well. I highly, highly recommend Blue Studio Miami!

After looking at Chantal's portfolio I immediately connected with the manner in which Chantal plays with the colors, her eye for catching those special little moments that are often overlooked, and her aptitude for showcasing the beauty of each person and each object. For example, I really did not want any shots of me (the bride) alone and many of the other photographers scoffed at that request or told me I would change my mind. Chantal was so understanding and really just wanted me to be comfortable. 2) The photos were BEAUTIFUL. Even though neither my husband or I are used to being photographed, she made us feel so comfortable that it was easy. Plus, Chantal and her team were very stealthy during the wedding and I really don't even remember them being around. Meaning, they were unobtrusive with the guests which is exactly what you want in a photographer. 3) Chantal and her team could not have been nicer. They even offered to carry our bags when we left the bridal suite. The calm demeanor of Chantal and the other photographers made us calm on a very stressful day. 4) They had excellent turn around time with the photos. They really got them back to us quickly which we really appreciated. 5) Her albums are BEAUTIFUL and very reasonably priced in comparison to other photographers. These are just a few of the reasons I would recommend using Blue Studio!

As the months whisked by, worries started to fade, as I found the perfect location, perfect dress and perfected our budget. When we did our engagement session photos she took her time and made sure that we received the best quality and best treatment. She was understanding of exactly what we wanted and accommodated us in any way possible. On the actual wedding day it was crazy because we NEVER saw her snap a shot, yet the photos were AMAZING. She got all the shots we wanted and more and she was never intrusive to the event. Looking at the pictures afterward we were amazed to see some of the places she had taken pictures as we never saw her take them. Every time my wife thought "I wish I had a picture of this moment" we seemed to have one.
