To begin- I would never hire green turtle for a wedding ever again, and I wish someone had warned me before I hired them for mine.
In the weeks leading up to my wedding they switc...
hed my wedding food coordinator from Elena (who seemed nice but then was not great day of) to Jen. Jen was a nightmare to work with. She made me cry 2 weeks before my wedding when she spoke incredibly rudely to my mother over the phone who paid for a lot of the wedding. Further, when we were 5 days out from my destination wedding- Jen changed the menu without telling or asking me or my now husband. What made this even more problematic was that we had planned 3 stations, 1 meat, 1 seafood, and 1 vegetable. She changed our seafood only paella to meat paella. Both myself (bride) and my husband (groom) do not eat meat. This meant on our wedding day we ate the vegetable station, asparagus and potatoes with no main course. And unfortunately, by table 12 the asparagus had run out. There were 15 tables. This meant that those at the later tables that did not eat meat- had no option. When this was brought to the coordinators (Elena) attention at the wedding - she argued with my mother and my sister (maid of honor). Blaming us for the change in menu, which Jen had changed without any approval. Of course, my husband and I, did not engage in discussions with the catering team the night of the event as we realized the many errors and refused to allow it to ruin our night. However in subsequent days we spoke with the management at Green Turtle and requested a full refund for the Paella portion of the meal, and we were refused. Ultimately, they gave a partial refund for serving us an incorrect main course- even after Jen admitted in a group phone call that she had changed the paella without discussing with anyone.
There were many other problems, including them repeatedly changing the contract. But in their words, “contracts are meant to be changed.” I can’t even recall all the issues that surfaced during our contractual relationship with Green Turtle- but if I could do it again I would pay DOUBLE to never speak to Jen or the general manager again.
I 100% recommend the food from Catering by Green Turtle Inn & Kaiyo Grill for your wedding/event.
It was cooked on site - hot + fresh even for the last table served - my guests we...
re raving even a few days later. It is without a doubt the best wedding dinner and cocktail apps I could have asked for/have ever experienced at a wedding. The staff I spoke to onsite and during planning were great; professionalism, knowledgeable, answered any questions (some emails did need a few days to get a response but that is due to them always being SO BUSY/IN DEMAND), and even brought me over the food during cocktail hour when I had to step away for other wedding duties. The bartender was great as well with no one waiting for their drinks. I wholeheartedly recommend them and am thankful for my wedding planner (Frond + Feather Events) to recommend them to me :)
Elena was amazing in answering any and all of my questions. She helped make an amazing menu with SO MUCH FOOD and even arranged for all the rentals needed. On the day of, the sta...
ff was great, and the servers even made sure my husband and I received cocktail hour appetizers during our pictures. The set up of the buffet was beautiful. They even decorated with beautiful tropical flowers. I would highly recommend Green Turtle!
Great communication, friendly hard working staff, delicious food! 100% recommend!
Working and planning with Elena and the Green Turtle Catering Team was great but what was even better were the RESULTS! The food tasted amazing and what was so great about the entr...
ees was that they helped collaborate to make our ideal meals! People are still raving about the food and the cold cuts provided. The set up was very fast the communication between staff and the coordination Meghan Farrar from Farrever After Events was so smooth. As the Bride I was hardly even approached because they fixed any and all issues themselves and I was none the wiser AKA YASS! The "Green Machine" (food truck) ensured the food was hot and cooked on site which is so important when feeding over 100. I am so thankful for this team and the service they provided as our standards are from being in the industry and we were not let down!
Used Green Turtle for my Rehearsal Dinner event. Note that the restaurant has changed mgmt. The catering mgmt that I booked under 1 year ago changed when it came to my wedding. Not...
e the overall deliverable was good, food was wonderful - so that is why they get 3 stars. However, it was not easy getting to that point and caused me unnecessary stress till literally the hours before. They refused to communicate with my Full-time and local planner, only with me, which I thought was unreasonable. Prices and contract changed a lot and at the last minute. Overall, just a headache and unprofessional to deal with. A great local place we have loved going for years, but their catering mgmt needs some help - so be advised.
One of the big highlights from our wedding was the DELICIOUS food. We are familiar with Islamorada and The Green Turtle is one of the best and most well known restaurants in the ar...
ea. When we were calling around looking for vendors we were connected with Amanda at The Green Turtle. After our initial meeting, we immediately booked The Green Turtle. We were so impressed with Amanda that we knew we were in great hands. She definitely had a lot of great ideas and made the whole process so easy. We had to bring in all of our vendors which seems scary at first, but since Amanda/ Green Turtle has catered all of the local venues they know exactly what to do. Our guests were raving about the food. Some of the favorites were the tuna appetizer, snapper entrée and of course the lobster mac and cheese. We had passed apps and a buffet and everything went on seamlessly. Thank you so much to Green Turtle and Amanda! We were truly lucky to have you as part of our Wedding Day :-)
Amanda is simply amazing! She is a very hard worker and I was so happy with everything. She does amazing work. Green Turtle hosted my Rehearsal dinner along wit catering my wedding...
and a brunch the next morning. Everything was top notch! I highly recommend Green Turtle and Amanda!
Thank you, Green Turtle, for the delicious wedding reception food! We originally booked another vendor for our wedding but due to a miscommunication with our venue we had to choose...
another catering vendor. Our wedding planner recommended Green Turtle. They replicated the same menu we chose with the other vendor and made the food to perfection! We had food stations - seafood station, panini station, Mexican street food station and a salad bar. I'd love to be able to tell you what we liked the most but it was all great! My husband and I are foodies and set high standards for the food we eat. This was way up there! It tasted more like sitting in a great Key Largo restaurant than a catered wedding - which is what we were going for. Great restaurant - great caterer!
My Life Savers!!!

hem for the bar service as well, bartender was awesome!!! The catering team was professional and very organized. They brought us a special set of appetizers while we were taking pictures which were to die for. My guest are still talking about the Carpaccio of Beef, Tropical Tomato Bruschetta. I personally loved the Mini Crab Cakes. Megan is sent from heaven she was also my day of coordinator, I swear my day would not have been so perfect if it wasn't for her. My husband loved her. She knew what she was doing and she did it well. Megan meet with me the day before and took over every possible worry I could have had. If your looking for help the day of I would definitely give her a call. Also if you want to taste the food before booking with them you can! Just call Megan aka life saver!

rer. They treated to a tasting prior to picking our menu and we were hooked from that moment. The food is all made from scratch and just so good. Our guests were still talking about their food days after the wedding! We ended up spending more than we anticipated but it was well worth it. And the staff was very professional and organized. We were able to get all of our table settings from them as well so it made things insanely easy. I definitely give my recommendation to Island Catering by Green Turtle Inn!
