About this vendor
Hello! I'm Jen and I've been documenting weddings and families for a decade. I've lived in Charleston for almost 20 years and left cube life at The Office behind to take advantage of playing outside more and making something lasting. There are so many fantastic wedding venues around Charleston! Historic venues, elegant gardens, waterfront lookouts, magnificent trees. I look forward to hearing about your plans. Cheers to 2018!

I wish that I could give Jen more than 5 stars! Jen's amazing photos and consistent professionalism is everything that a bride could want on her wedding day. I would recommend Caro...
lina Photosmith to anyone looking for perfect photos and a sparkling personality to go along with it.
Jen is absolutely the best decision we made in our wedding planning. She captured the feel of our day perfectly and while having fun with our guests. Seriously, our venue shots lo...
ok like the came straight from the pages of The Knot. She was great at steeping us through posing so we didn't look awkward too! Communication was always open and she was available for any questions I had throughout the planning process.
We absolutely LOVE our photos and our experience with Jen! I searched for a photographer for a long time, and finally found Jen's website. I filled out an inquiry and immediately r...
eceived a response from Jen. She took the time to really get to know me and my wedding plans, and we ended up scheduling an engagement photo session, too (which also turned perfect!). She was so accommodating-- we had to reschedule the engagement session because of a hurricane, but she worked with us to find the perfect time, and we instantly felt comfortable and relaxed when we met Jen. This was really important to me because I tend to look super awkward if I know there is a camera around, but she was so much fun to work with that I felt at ease the whole time.
This helped a lot on our wedding day, too! We had an small garden ceremony in the courtyard of our family home, and Jen captured our vision of our intimate gathering so beautifully. For the reception, we just wanted to have a fun dinner with those closest to us, and she nailed that, too! We are so glad we Jen was there, and she really understood how we wanted to remember our special day!
I cannot say enough about Carolina Photosmith! I actually found myself sad after the wedding when I realized I didn't have a reason to work with Jen anymore... She is so wonderfu...
l! Very laid back, professional, fun and creative. She will be there for you no matter the circumstances! And most importantly, she delivers amazing photographs! Our engagement photos and our wedding photos will be cherished for the rest of our lives. She captured the candid moments along with all the formal beauty from the day. One of the things I love about her photography style is the way her photos look light and airy but still colorful... Making every moment a work of art. Other than the actual marriage, photos are really the only other thing you walk away with after all that planning and money spent... Because of that, it was really important to us to find the right photographer and Jen was it!
Carolina Photosmith was the perfect photographer fit for us as a couple, in capturing the most special moments of our Charleston wedding in 2016, and for our outdoor engagement pho...
to shoot amongst the live oaks and sunset on Edisto Island!! Jen’s easy-going personality made us immediately comfortable from the start, and we were impressed by her professional portfolio and the creative way she captured special moments and scenery with natural light. She flowed easily with all the types of shots we wanted at both our engagement session and wedding, shared our same appreciation for the gorgeous lowcountry outdoors, and captured our special moments and the natural landscapes just beautifully! Looking back at our wedding album is like seeing a fairytale wedding unfold through her photographs. She not only captured the mood, energy and overall highlights of our wedding at McLeod Plantation, she also captured all the small details that we had worked so hard to plan and perfect! When it came time to see the finished products, she happily did some additional editing of this one or that one for me at my request as well. There were so many beautiful shots that we are still trying to decide which ones to hang on our walls! Her work is truly beautiful, and she’s the type of person we will enjoy a continued friendship with over the years, as well as work with professionally again!
Stellar photography for our wedding day was a top priority and boy did Jen deliver. Not only is she a gifted photographer, she is so easy to be around. Her naturally calm and frien...
dly nature put us and all of our guests at ease making for some amazing shots. She just gets it. I couldn't recommend Carolina Photosmith enough.
Jen was fantastic! Aside from her beautiful photographs, she’s such a down to earth person and willing to do whatever you need or want at your venue. Her assistant got great shots ...
as well - great price for 2 photographers! Would definitely hire again!

o reach out to her. She responded immediately via email to set up a phone convo (because I am long distance). We both chatted over our morning cup of joe and I instantly felt like we were friends. Jen made us feel so comfortable throughout the whole process. Her personality is infectious... she had my whole family laughing and having fun in no time! She took any spare minutes she had getting to know our parents, sibling and friends. She is a true artist. Her photography is so real and the colors so vibrant. She is easy to work with before, during and after the wedding. She is dedicated and truly cares about documenting every special moment of your day! Seriously best decision ever. Jen is a wonderful person and amazing photographer... you won't be disappointed. Thanks Jen!!
Jennifer did a WONDERFUL job on our engagement pictures. I can not wait to work with her on bridal portraits and to have her with us every step of the BIG day! She is so friendly, ...
and is good at directing, but not forcing you into overly posed pictures (although I'm sure if that is what you want she can make that work also-we just decided that wasn't our style). She really allowed us to feel comfortable and like she was just a friend tagging along with us.
She has gone above and beyond since, helping me to get a last minute canvas for our engagement party, and providing the pictures very quickly after she edited them!
We had such a hard time choosing from so many wonderful pictures for our Save the Date- and we have gotten SO many compliments on them since they have gone out.
All in all, Jennifer has been wonderful, and I have no doubt she will continue to be. She will not disappoint!
Carolina Photosmith is a great company to work with! They are reliable and reasonably priced. Jen has a great personality and is comfortable and fun to work with. The photos are ...
amazing and they were able to capture some really great moments of our wedding! I would highly recommend choosing Carolina Photosmith for your wedding photographer!
Jen Smith (Carolina Photosmith) is remarkable. Within 5 minutes of meeting her we felt like we had known her forever. We knew we would feel comfortable with her on our wedding day ...
and more than that, photographs of her work that she showed us were incredible.
She assured us she would capture not just the "traditional shots" but also the "moments" that we wouldn't even know we would want documented until after it was all over. Now that we have seen all of our photos this is true - looking back at them we can hear the music and feel the breeze of the night! Our budget only allowed us to have one photographer (Jen) and because we didn't have a second shooter we were nervous that everything would not be captured. This was not the case - Jen was EVERYWHERE on the night of the event and was outgoing and fun with our guests. She made everyone feel comfortable which made the smiles in the photos even bigger!
We cannot say enough about great comments about Jen - she is professional, responsive, easy to work with, fun, funny and hiring her for our wedding was one of the best decisions we made. The title says it all - she starts as your photographer but becomes your friend. We can't wait for someone else in our family to get married so we can work with her again!
Jen was wonderful!!! We had several changes to our wedding last minute (outdoor reception that had to be changed due to rain). She kept such a positive attitude about it that it ma...
de me feel better. She was such a trooper and trekked through the drizzle and fog to make sure I still had the beautiful, outdoor pictures I was wanting! The pictures turned out GORGEOUS, despite the weather. I recommend her to the moon and back!
The best decision Trey and I made during this wedding experience was to meet with Jen. She was gracious enough to shoot our engagement and wedding photos and we couldn't be happier...
. I really just want to gush on an on about her awesomeness but that isn't really my style so I'll just TRY to convey how great she is. What really drew us to Jen was her personality. The woman is fun, focused, quiet, and doesn't take it too seriously, all at the same time. The quality of her photos is unbelievable and she did a great job of finding those unique angles that made our photos one of a kind. Trey and I appreciated her presence so much and we're sad that she can't photograph and hang out with us all the time!
From day one, Jen worked with me on my budget, very quick to respond to all my emails (which was important because I lived in NJ planning a SC wedding). Jen met me every time I vi...
sited Charleston and even walked around with my fiance and I getting ideas. The day of, Jen was early and she rolled with the punches (yep, it rained on my wedding day so I didn't want to walk around before the wedding and Jen changed up the plan and took all my pics in the church which I was much more comfortable with)! Jen did very well rounding up my crazy crew and went along with all our suggestions and request (like when my husband wanted to take a picture with his guy friends on a random police car..).
Couldn't say enough great things about Jen. She made me feel comfortable the day of and even before! Works with your budget adjusting your package to fit your needs. A MUST RECOMMEND!

mily session as a gift. Jen is very professional and makes you feel at ease. Her laid back style was the perfect combination for our outdoor rustic wedding. Even with the rain, wind, and impending hurricane during our wedding she captured the day perfectly. If you are getting married in Charleston she should be your top choice. Thanks Jen!
Jen Smith (Carolina Photosmith) did a fantastic job on our engagement and wedding photos. She helped us choose the perfect location for our engagement photos at Cypress Gardens. ...
She captured the romance, laughter, and beauty of both our relationship and the surrounding environment. Our friends and family gave numerous compliments about the photos. Our wedding was held at Magnolia Plantation in Charleston. Unfortunately, it rained a bit, but Jen still managed to get plenty of memorable photographs. In fact, some of my favorites were of the ladies with their parasols trying not to ruin their hair! Jen captured every moment I wanted to remember plus more. I recommend Carolina Photosmith to anyone looking for an excellent and well-priced photographer!
Jen was fantastic on our wedding day, and it was not an easy one! We ended up rushing to capture the daylight since our wedding had to be in the evening, and she and her assistant...
were totally prepared! She worked so quickly to capture those all-important moments, and was very patient with us as we tried to get everyone "picturized!" I imagine there aren't many photographers out there who would have been so gracious and calming in that situation, and I'm so glad she was the one behind the camera that day! Her modest pricing allowed us to afford two photographers, instead of one, which we loved, and her charming personality made it no chore to be around her all day : ) She is fantastic and if you're a Carolinian bride, she is definitely your top choice! We have already decided to use her again for an anniversary session next year!
Jen is not only a great person & a huge pleasure to work with - but she captured the mot amazingly perfect pictures of our wedding!

every image. So many of our wedding guests commented on her awesome, down-to-earth personality! She has a way of making everyone feel comfortable and relaxed. Se is so fun, easy-going, and fits right in with the party, yet maintains a professional attitude. She was so great about shooting multiple locations with no time limits! We really appreciated that she was there through every minute of our wedding, down to the last guest. She made us a BEAUTIFUL guest book for our wedding and turned a playground into an awesome venue for engagement pictures. We really couldn't be more pleased! Jen is THE wedding photographer for Charleston!
I had the best experience working with Jen Smith. She was very professional and her photos literally take your breath away. She was such a joy to work with every step of the way. ...
She really captured every moment of our wedding! Plus, she got our pictures back to us very quickly!! I would for sure use Jen for another event. Love her!!!
Jen was a delight to have at my wedding. She took numerous excellent candid shots unobtrusively. She captured moments I am thrilled to have recorded! Also, Jen had thought about my...
wedding venue and reception time before even arriving. We got married at an inn that backed on a marsh and the beach. She suggested perfect times to get pictures on each. We have pictures of us in a sunset over the marsh, as well as gorgeous beach photos with beautiful light.
Jen was a pleasure to work with as well. She showed up early, stayed late, and gave us some small free-bees. Jen is talented, hardworking, intelligent, and pleasant to be around. It was such a pleasure to work with Jen and I'm very pleased she was our photographer for our special day. I highly recommend her services.

id my bridal portraits and took a few pics during my fitting. She also has a great personality and is very professional. She was never late, and the turn around time is pretty quick. She also posted a few photos on facebook the night of the wedding - which was pretty neat to see the pics as we were boarding the plane. Choose this photographer if you're in this area - you won't regret it. She's also reasonably priced. She's def now our family photographer.

t a second shooter to capture all the moments of our wedding. They took more natural, unobtrusive photos (from prep to end of reception) that were more candid and fun which really captured the "real" moments and told the story of our special day. She is so easy to work with and has great rates! I highly recommend her.

r! Planning a wedding is so much fun but can also be daunting and overwhelming at times. As soon as I secured Jennifer as our wedding photographer, I was 110% confident that she would capture our wedding (along with several moments leading up to our celebration) just beautifully! Jennifer is super professional yet finds a way to put her clients at ease – which is a key trait one should keep in mind when searching for their photographer! Just think about who you would feel comfortable with snapping photos while you’re getting ready on your BIG DAY! That’s why I say prepared to be dazzled! Jennifer captures her brides & grooms as well as their wedding guests at their finest!
Carolina Photosmith is the most talented and sweet photog I have ever had the pleasure of working with! My family and I tend to be a bit camera shy (understatement, but I'm sure it...
's genetic ;)) and Jen captured moments that were real, unscripted in a way that is memorable and uncontrived. Her talent goes far beyond that to the finished product, and her natural sweetness and professionalism show in every shot! I am lucky to have had her generous talent for my wedding! She is a true gem! This is a DO NOT MISS OPPORTUNITY if you need someone to capture any lifetime milestones!!!
We can't thank Jen at Carolina Photosmith enough for doing an engagement session with Brian and I. When we got the pictures/prints back from the session, we absolutely adored them!...
Jen did a great job suggesting a variety of poses and put us at ease throughout the session. She was very easy to work with and we would definitely recommend her to our friends and family for the future. Much thanks Jen!
Jennifer Smith with Carolina Photosmith was wonderful to work with on our wedding day. We had a very small intimate wedding and she proved to fit right in. She knew what we wanted ...
and kept us relaxed. We had fun together! I didn't want to work with anyone that was stuffy or unfriendly. She had a job to do, but if felt more like she enjoyed the day herself and was sincerely glad to be with us. She has since photographed our first born and will continue to do so!
We had a great experience with Carolina Photosmith! Jen was patient and kind, but quick to capture the perfect moment knowing that time is precious! She was a delight to work wit...
