I normally do not write reviews, but I could not keep Carla a secret from my fellow brides. She was God sent! I was lucky & thankful that I was even allowed to schedule with Carla ...with only 2 weeks ahead of my 9/7 wedding. She responded to my request in less than a day, and asked the right questions and provided advice to figure out what will be the right makeup/hair style for me. Even from that conversation alone, I felt assured that I made the right decision.
The day of the wedding, she arrived promptly on time and set up everything in less than 5 minutes (It was giving Olivia Pope!.. read bad-ass, phenomenal woman). I was anxious of how everything was going to turn out, as I did not have good results with another mua for a trial run. I even showed Carla a photo of that work, and she herself knew what needed to be fixed/adjusted to meet my expectations. Carla not only made me feel at ease, but she was so sweet the entire time, and talked to me like we were friends. Mind you, she also had an apprentice with her. So not only was she focused on me, but she was a teacher simultaneously.
Okay now to the reveal. My breath was taken away; I was speechless. I looked and felt so beautiful! Most importantly, I looked like myself, just glammed up but still recognizable. I kept on saying, I look like a princess. The feeling I felt when looking at myself in the mirror is unexplainable. All the pre-wedding stress, went out the window, and I felt like I had no more worries! Carla started at 5am, finished by 7a, and my makeup and hair stayed intact the entire day with no touchups (my wedding ended at 12AM!). I am so grateful that I came across Carla and her work. I honestly am especially happy that I got to spend my morning with her. It almost felt like a dream.
P.s. to my Black brides, I know how much more difficult it is to find an artist that is equipped/knowledgeable to our needs, but I am telling you Carla is the truth. She did my hair and makeup with so much understanding and patience.
