Capital Cakes

ful cupcakes! She has tons of delicious options for cake bases, buttercreams, and fillings. We had one particular cupcake that was chocolate cake, peanut butter buttercream, and dark chocolate gaunche filling. This cupcake was a huge hit with our guests!

awberry cake with strawberry buttercream was excellent. I would definitely recommend her to any bride.

And she delivers!!! Look no further for the best wedding cake in the Triangle! Martha C.

time with delivering the cake.

he cake and the cupcakes were delicious, and our guests raved about the desserts. We couldn't be happier with her work!

t that tried it loved it. You should definitely book her!

lyn far exceeded expectations. Our guests kept asking which one of the cakes was gluten free. They were stunned when we told them it was all of them. The cake was so moist and delicious. Katelyn was so accommodating, easy to work with, and was very knowledgeable about dietary restrictions. We will be ordering in the future for special events. Thank you again!

rocess. We didn't have any clue what we wanted and Katelyn took the time for a consultation to design it with us. She asked us for photos of cakes we liked and then designed something special for us. It was stunning and delicious. Thank you for making the perfect dessert for our wedding.

ors and fillings were so delicious. Katelyn's cake is so moist and fluffy! She was very responsive and helpful throughout the planning process. She made sure that our cake fit within our budget, and she advised on the decorative aspects. In the end, we decided on a 4-tier cake with 2 tiers of marble/chocolate buttercream, 1 tier of apple/apple cinnamon buttercream, and 1 tier of spice/cinnamon buttercream. We bought our own pressed autumn leaves, which Katelyn arranged beautifully on the cake the day of the wedding. We were very happy with the presentation, and every slice was delicious. We plan to use her again for birthdays, because this is now our favorite cake in the area!

not stopped hearing about it from our guests! We absolutely loved trying the cakes at home! We had a blast picking out flavors and buttercreams and coming up with our favorite pairings! My only regret is that I didn’t steal a piece of red velvet cake with chocolate chip buttercream at the wedding!

nted for my cake when picking them out. I highly recommend this place.

ous, I was hoping to box up leftovers but there were none 😀 my guests couldn’t stop talking about the cake!

o matter how crazy or farfetched, look even better than I could have imagined. Her cakes have made birthdays and other parties for myself and my loved ones, that much more special. Not to mention, they are the most delicious cakes I have ever tasted. If you don’t live too far away from Durham, do yourself a favor and order a cake (or multiple) from her!!

reams! Her knowledge of cake and design runs deep and she was an excellent guide in helping us design our wedding day cake. When it comes to cake tasting, there is flexibility in either setting up an appointment or in doing an at-home tasting and letting Katelyn know your thoughts. The tasting got us excited for the finished product because it was so difficult to choose what our final flavors would be, they were all so good! Additionally, our families were so excited that we asked her to bake our wedding day cake that they also asked her to bake our rehearsal dinner cake. Both. Cakes. Were. AMAZING. and all of our rehearsal dinner + reception guests loved the cakes. We can't recommend Katelyn enough.

vision for a last minute birthday cake. Her professionalism, promptness(even responding to me at 3am) was evident throughout the entire process. I wholeheartedly recommend Capital Cakes to anyone seeking a memorable and truly awesome cake!

k up a tasting box of different flavors to try on our own time. We ended up going with a lemon cake with blueberry buttercream filling, and it was absolutely delicious! We've had multiple guests have reached out to tell us how much they loved it. Katelyn did an excellent job decorating our cake with a beautiful flower cascade. We're really looking forward to ordering another one of her cakes in the future.

ing box was great. Beautiful stand and options. She is incredible at her craft. Very upfront and honest with pricing and what we wanted (ie supplementing with sheet cakes, etc.,)

different choices of cake/filling and then through different design options. She was always available to answer questions and worked with us on delivery timeframes. What she was able to do with a few flower left by the florist was spectacular, she has wonderful eye for design. Thank you for everything.

d to get the cake to be so addictively delicious, but whatever technique she uses works! All night we had guests telling us it was the best cake they'd ever had, and we agree! Thank you so much!

f our wedding cake. She added elegance to a cake which is beyond brilliant and creative. I will definitely be working with her in the future.

ven called me to run through the cake details to make sure everything was how I imagined it. Despite the conversation, there was no way to prepare for the beautiful art that was our wedding cake. It was PERFECT! I highly recommend Capital Cakes for weddings or any other occasion. Katelyn does not disappoint!

dding day. She gave helpful suggestions as well! The cake tasting we had was our favorite experience while planning. She was really great, the cake was delicious, and she listened to everything we wanted cake-wise.

we expected with two gold kissing elephants created in fondant on top!

had to fit our vision for the wedding cake. Even though it was a design that is different from what she's used to (a henna based design for our South Asian wedding), she gave it a shot and absolutely aced it. We highly recommend working with her!

ndor within like 3 months of the wedding date!! She was so helpful in our initial meeting about giving us numbers up front, giving us options and also helping with designs!! Cake tasting was super easy and also no-contact! When I saw the cake on our wedding day, I was blown away by how beautiful it was!!! Also equally important, every layer was DELICIOUS. We had picked different cake and filling flavors for all the layers and all were so good. Highly recommend Katelyn and her beautiful work!

vor and great texture! She also did the groom's cake for my daughter's rehearsal dinner which turned out to be a magnificent work of art that was very personalized for the groom. We highly recommend Katelyn and Capital Cakes for a fabulous cake design for your special occasion!

d the design from our initial baker and arranged several tastings for us. We couldn’t have been happier with the end result. It was absolutely stunning and tasted even better! Thank you so much Katelyn!

our expectations. It was so beautiful and delicious. We couldn’t be happier with Katelyn’s services.

m, white cake and fruit jam filling and it was stellar! All of our guests said that it was the most delicious cake they had tasted. It was also gorgeous, we had a simple spackled white buttercream frosting with fresh flowers, and it was gorgeous. We are so grateful. Our initial baker fell through only two weeks before our wedding, and Katelyn was incredibly compassionate, helpful and clear about what needed to be done. She was easy to communicate with and we recommend her highly and plan to order other cakes from her when the need arises!

I could not have been happier with my wedding cake!

tiered cake with strawberry filling. The cakes arrived on time and tasted great! Katelyn even decorated our single tiered cake with flowers left by the florist. Katelyn was very affordable but produced high quality work - we are looking forward to having her make us a cake for our 1 year anniversary!

g in her power to make sure the cake (or cupcakes) make it to your wedding looking amazing - even if that wedding is 4 hours away! Not to mention, her desserts are absolutely delicious!

andmade and very intricate. Katelyn took the time to answer all our questions and responded quickly. It was a joy to work with her. Oh and her homemade buttercream frosting is to die for!

le when it came to working with us. We had to postpone our ceremony, then our original venue went bankrupt so we had yet another date change. She patiently responded to our emails about rescheduling and reassured us that she would be able to come through. And come through she did. We got so many compliments on our cake. Even from people who “don’t like” wedding cake. We absolutely loved the taste (we’ve been to 6 weddings since 2019 and while we might be biased) Katelyn’s cake definitely both looked and tasted the best of any wedding cake we’ve ever had.

t. Katelyn delivered our wedding reception cake and set up the flowers on it too. Thanks again! We will be calling her up again for future needs.

ther was a peach cobbler cake with gold trim. Great to work with- she is an expert! Listen to her suggestions!

in the stone style cake that instead had crystals around it. The theme was navy and gold, and she was 100% amazing at bringing it to life! On top of this, when we asked her if she could possibly do a rum cake - she not only nailed it, she exceeded expectations! It was absolutely delicious and I'm so glad we went with her!

I loved our cake it was beautiful and I highly recommend booking her for any event you need!! Can’t thank you enough for the professional and excellent service provided!

t butter creams. My theme was blue oh, and the blue lace overlay on the center was perfect. She was very responsive and helpful in helping come up with my vision. The cake tasted excellent.

3 tier cake with flowers that I had originally planned for my daughter. I brought her the flowers the day before and she chose what she needed to make the perfect fresh flower waterfall down the cake over the three tiers. It was a work of art. She really has an eye for combining colors and textures to accentuate the cake. We picked it up and hour and a half before the wedding and it was perfect. Everyone raved about the red velvet and chocolate with dark ganache. She truly is very gifted and I will definitely ask her to make more cakes in the future. She has talent, style, and an eye for turning the ordinary into extraordinary.

over. ❤️
