Had BMSHL booked since early 2019. Had to re-schedule my 6-6-2020 wedding last year due to COVID. They were going to be down a main stylist but I went with them anyway because they...
said they would still have a solid team to take care of me and my bridal party. My new wedding date is May 29, 2021 and on February 18th of this year ( few months before my wedding) I get an email from Heather saying that a family member of my stylist is now getting married that day so they had to cancel me. They've had my deposit since 2019. Its a few months from my wedding and I am now left scrambling to find new people. This is not a good way to do business. It is clear clients do not come first, and they will not think twice about dropping you if something else comes up. I clearly was not at all a priority and as a bride that is extremely hurtful and frustrating. Rescheduling everything has already been a hassle and this just added to it. I would not recommend them at all because I wouldn't wish this frustration on any bride! Look elsewhere and save yourself the hassle for your big day. I had also heard rumors of this kind of stuff before regarding this same business and I ignored them. I even emailed Heather in 2019 before I booked and I explained what I had heard and she assured me that the same situation wouldn't happen to me on my day. Here I am stuck in the same situation she assured me wouldn't happen! Trust your gut and trust reviews! Don't be fooled like I was.
Booked a wedding for June 1, 2019.. was in contact with Heather for a couple of weeks leading up to the trial run that was part of the package. She gave me the run around to go to ...
her shop in Bellefonte, only to find it abandoned, leaves piled up in the doorway, and notices of shut offs laying all over the ground and taped to the windows. She wanted me to go to a strangers home to have the service completed after I called her several times, which I did not feel comfortable doing. Then, she was to come to my home- never happened. Finally, on my big day, she was an absolute no show. Thank goodness I had already heard about her lack of accountability based on several Facebook reviews (I had already placed a hefty down payment for her services prior to finding this information out about her), and a back up plan was developed less than 3 weeks before the wedding. I had 2 different ladies, each whom have worked directly with Heather, come to my rescue out of the kindness of their hearts. They made my day by being there, which is much more than Heather did. I still have yet to hear anything out of her, and based on her previous history- she’s probably scamming other poor brides to be as I write this. DO NOT BOOK WITH HER. YOU WILL NOT HAVE A MAKEUP ARTIST ON YOUR BIG DAY. You would stand more of a chance of being struck by lightening than her actually follow through on a contract.
I paid for and scheduled a hair and makeup trial in advance and was coming in from out of state just for the trial when on my way to State College, Heather emailed me and tried to ...
cancel the trial. The hair and makeup wasn’t great with airbrush foundation immediately peeling off after the trial and false eyelashes falling off as well as hair falling out. So glad I didn’t book BMSHL beauty for my wedding.
Do not use this service!!! Unreliable, very difficult to get responses, canceled all pre-wedding meetings, PROMISED she never missed doing a wedding, and the morning of the event ...
at 6 am was emailed - not called - pulling out due to a 'health event' and left us with no one. For $600+ dollars to do a bride, mother and maid of honor that was paid IN ADVANCE. Better get full refund, DO NOT USE!
Heather and Taylor were amazing!!! Everyone looked perfect and makeup lasted all night. They drove 2 hours for us. So glad we chose BMSHL beauty
BMSHL did a fantastic job for my wedding day! Everyone in the bridal party was super happy with their makeup and hair. We had a lot of girls in a short time line to get done and th...
ey managed to get everyone done on time. I was super happy with the girls that did my trial, even doing a second hair trial when I was unsure of the first. There is a higher price of service, although I do feel it was worth the cost in the end. My only complaint is having to pay the full price of the bridal makeup and hair for the trial as well, which I did not expect. A trial is definitely needed for your wedding day.
Heather's team did an amazing job with hair and makeup for my wedding. I had my hair done and the hairstyle lasted all day. Her team also did makeup for some of the ladies that wer...
e in the wedding and they did a wonderful job. I have no complaints about their skills. However, I do have two concerns to bring up.
Firstly, I felt overcharged for "airbrush foundation" services when airbrushes were not used at the trial nor the wedding day. Especially when I was told in person that airbrush was going to be used on the day of the wedding. Air brush was not used which did not meet my expectation since it's advertised ("A custom makeup application including 20+ hour wear airbrush foundation and false lashes.").
Secondly, BMSHL Beauty charged me taxes for the their services. According to PA tax laws, the services that BMSHL Beauty provides are not subject to a 6% sales tax. Thus, it is unethical for BMSHL Beauty to charge their clients taxes. After bringing up this issue to Heather, I received a full refund for the tax portion of my bill.
Overall, I highly recommend BMSHL Beauty and the services that they provide because they truly are talented.
