Blue Chip Casino Hotel & Spa

ven’t told me blah blah.” It was like talking to a wall. The coordinator told me many times it’s my wedding and it’s up to me but then when I’d tell her what I wanted she’d say “oh you don’t want that.” I even provided descriptions and photos for how I wanted things decorated but they did what they wanted instead. I was told before covid that the ceremony room was 1k fully decorated and asked to choose from a few different set ups. After COVID I chose and they said “that’s gonna be an extra $100”. Um.. what? Before COVID I was told they had a back drop stand theyd “let me use” for our selfie station. After COVID I was told “that’s gonna be $50 to rent.” I told her if we have to wear masks because of Covid, we’d be canceling. I wasn’t paying $6k to wear a mask. She told me we wouldn’t have to and then a month before the wedding said we have to wear masks and we can’t have the kids corner, selfie station, or favors that we ALREADY purchased and put together. I told her we’d probably cancel then and she said “ok I understand. No penalty besides the deposit”. Then emails me an hour later and said the contract holds regardless of COVID and that if we cancel, we still have to pay the full amount owed. I was PISSED. I understand that COVID screwed the company financially, but that’s not our fault and it’s not fair to try to price gauge us. Fast forward to wedding day, my maid of honor broke her toe on the bridal dressing room door and I couldn’t even get anyone to get me some ice for her BLACKENED foot! I ran all over the place asking for help from security and employees and they kept saying “I can’t help you” and sending me in circles. 🤯 ...We hurried back to the hotel after our first look to get to our casino photo that they were holding a table for only to find out we were lied to and had to wear masks in the photo. What?! No. I’m not wearing a mask in professional photos. That’s the entire point of having a secluded table. I had 2 different flavored cupcakes and my guests weren’t given a choice. In fact, we had twice as many as we needed and when guests (particularly my brother and the best man) asked for seconds he was told no. Same for champagne that I had already paid for. We had 70 people say they were coming so we paid for 70 meals but only about 50 came. They say food can’t leave the premises so didn’t get to take home any of the extra 20 meals we paid for, yet a server offered my MIL to-go boxes for my kids’ meals... We’ll pretend that makes sense. We didn’t use one of their packages and did a “build your own package” to keep the cost down. Cathy told us our suite was held at $179 and we said we’d probably just book a basic room to keep the cost low. When we booked a basic room, it still cost 179! Then a couple weeks before the wedding Cathy says she still has that suite held, do we want it or the room we booked? The suite obviously since they have it held still and it’s the same price. All they have to do is change the room type on the one we already paid for. Wedding night comes, we check in, it’s not a suite and no welcome amenity. I’ve worked in a LOT of hotels and we ALWAYS gave welcome amenities to special guests. ESPECIALLY if they got married at our hotel. The only part of BC I was impressed with was the bartender. The rest? Disappointing.

ame to communication with the venue coordinator. I fully understand that her schedule requires her to have days off during the week, but having to wait days at a time or even a week at a time was a bit of a problem. The communication errors continued from there. It took us many months to make sure that what we wanted for the wedding was properly required on the contract. That was a hassle. Then it continued on to the rehearsal dinner. The ceremony room was decorated for the next day and we asked the night before where the rest of the decorations were at. We were told the decorators would be back in the morning to finish up. Wedding day....it was about noon when we arrived to finish getting ready and the ceremony room was still not done. The MOH asked about the rest of the decorations and was told it was too late to have the decorators come back and fix it. We requested to have the ceiling covered with fabric and chandeliers and this wasn't done. Then we also requested to have candles down the aisle instead of lanterns. None of this was done. The reception was also held there. The reception was great and was beautiful. It was nice having someone else set things out and decorate for us with what we brought. The food wasn't as good as it was at the taste testing. The other downfall is that I was told many times that "this is my wedding" and things should be how I want them; however, the coordinator is set in her way and is hard to change her opinion. The Coordinator was very pushy at the rehearsal and the wedding. Even with all of these issues, my wedding was still beautiful and was the best night ever!

ery little about people who do not enjoy what they do. From my first meeting through the reception there was a lack of communication, little & late response times to emails, phone calls & the overall feeling my wedding was more of an inconvenience than a happy event. Luckily the venue is beautiful, the food was delicious and not a single guest knew what was happening behind the scenes with the staff. On my reception day, I asked my day-of coordinator to speak with the manager about my concerns while I was in hair in make-up. After Cathy refused to speak to my wedding coordinator, telling her flat out "I will not speak to you" she still did not come out of her office to come see what she could help with because, as I was told, she was "with other clients." I made very little requests & consider myself a very laid back person. I got married the week before with a reception & had a completely different & enjoyable experience. So when I write this review, I want you to understand I know things could have been a lot better than the were. On the day of, I asked to show someone (anyone really) how I wanted the tables set so I could go to hair & makeup. Cathy sent two employees in her place to see what I wanted. Neither said they could help me because "that wasn't their job" & I went into my day having no clue what would be set up & how. In a nutshell, this wasn't an experience I would want any other bride to have. In the end, everything was completed how I wanted but getting there was less than enjoyable. I have no complaints about the actual venue. But the staff, especially the head of all the weddings, was unprofessional & came across as annoyed by my event. A little about the venue itself: blocked rooms are full price for your guests, there is no discount. If you want to book a room for your one year anniversary it's full price. Security has no idea where the ballrooms are & bridal suite is so your guests & vendors will wonder aimlessly trying to find it and no you can't put signs out on the first floor directing them. Check multiple times on your timelines because they won't read anything you send them. Make sure your names are spelled correctly on everything because they won't check. Your guests can not take food or cake home it is against Indiana law. When they say "you don't have to set up anything" what they really mean is they will set the tables up.Vendor meals are the same price as guests. Stay away from light colored table cloths (they are stained) but they will replace them if you catch it and point it out. You will be cleaning up all decorations at the end of the night so stick around. They will clean up & clear all their table stuff. The food is amazing. The drinks & bartenders are great. They will check on you during dinner aka once your "on the clock." You will not see Cathy again after you cut the cake. Even if you have inadequate experiences with the staff at least your guests will not know. Don't go in thinking you will be catered to or pampered, it is not that kind of venue & they aren't interested in making your day unique. They deal with high amounts of events & yours is just another contract to them. Best of luck on your big day! Stay organized for yourself and try not to let their lack of enthusiasm ruin it for you.

ended the Spa Blu Wedding Expo shortly after getting engaged, and Blue Chip had the space decorated, as it would be for a wedding. It was beautiful! We met with Cathy Horning who provided us with a specific quote, which was helpful for us to budget accordingly. Cathy was there for us through every step of the planning process. She responded to our emails in a timely manner, and she also counseled us on certain specifics of the wedding that we were ignorant of- she knew her stuff! There were so many items that were included with the package (ex: beautiful candelabras for the tables, no expensive flowers needed; sashes for the chairs in the ceremony room, and most impressively - the cake was included as well)! The wedding itself exceeded my expectations, everything they said they would do - they did! It was nice to be able to have ceremony and reception in one place, and the fact that it was a casino and hotel all in one, our guests had many options for entertainment without ever leaving the building! It was beyond my wildest dreams! I would absolutely recommend Blue Chip and working with Cathy - job well done!

n. Everyone loved the food and the overall look of the room.

calls and/or emails to get answers to specific questions. Also, if you are staying there for more than the night included in your package be sure to get confirmation for your reservation. We checked in the night before our event and the Front Desk had no record of our reservation for either night. Then the suite ($1200) was accidentally charged to another guest's credit card when he tried to check in the next day. They ended up comping our room for the additional night and sent up a bottle of champagne for the trouble, but it was a rocky start to the weekend. The suite itself was just ok. I felt that it could have been cleaner. It wasn't gross, but it was definitely dusty & not as nice as expected considering the package we purchased. The event itself was beautiful, the food was great and our guests had a wonderful time. I would absolutely choose this venue again if I had it to do over. If you are very detail oriented I would suggest having your own wedding planner or have low expectations when it comes to communication with this venue.

es even though Blue Chip is 45 mins away from the stadium. The old hotel side has rates different from the spa tower. The spa tower rooms were over $200 just for one night! Absurd! AND my in laws brought their kids with them and tried to check in just a little bit early and they wouldn't let them. How rude! When I was in hotels I always let wedding parties check in early because duh! they have to get to the rehearsal on time! I was very dissappointed and half of my wedding party ended up bunking at someone's house because they coulnd't afford to stay there. Just get them some rooms at the Country Inn & Suites instead. At least they'll get free breakfast!

per girl! Very fun, GREAT people watching!

by jumbo I mean huge, as in 6 or 8 to a pound, what we got was just 2 regular small shrimp, probably 22-24 to a pound. We were also so supposed to be served and intermezzo of blackberry merlot sherbert and it was never served. When we brought it up to the event coordinator she offered to bring us a couple more, that wasn't the point at all, thats not what we paid for. After the wedding we contacted them again, it took over 2 weeks for them to get back to us and all they are offering us is a free nights stay in a regular room (not a suite and doesn't cost them a dime) and and $80 gift certificate for their steak house (will maybe cover a full meal at their steak house.) So what probably cost me about $1000 they are getting off for $80.00. I had my wedding and reception there, a total of 191 guests and total cost was just over $19000. Used the spa for hair and make-up and they did an awesome job - however had to fight with them because they originally overbooked and told me 3 weeks before my wedding they couldn't help me, eventually got that fixed, and they did a wonderful job.

ry penny. Every detail was pure perfection and I will never forget my special day. Outstanding service

lcome. The steak restaurant is good, the buffet is good. The spa, on the other hand, is excellent! Very good service. Make sure they explain their pricing clearly for you, as there are some obscure charges.
