Bella Sera Bridal & Occasion

or their wedding dress. While the boutique does offer inclusive sizing and had an entire rack dedicated to plus-size gowns, I found the variety of styles to be disappointing. Most of the dresses were very similar in silhouette, primarily ball gowns or fuller A-line styles. While those are beautiful options for some brides, they weren’t at all what I was looking for. I think it’s important to distinguish between offering a range of sizes and offering a range of styles within those sizes. Prior to my appointment, I sent inspiration photos on two separate occasions to give the team a clear idea of what I was hoping to find. I completely understand that I have a specific vision for my dress, and I certainly don’t expect every boutique to carry exactly what I’m looking for. However, I would have really appreciated some transparency ahead of time that they didn’t have anything similar available, whether in plus sizes or standard sample sizes. Our stylist was incredibly sweet, and I genuinely appreciated her kindness throughout the appointment. We went through every dress they had available together, trying to find something that might work. Unfortunately, we kept pulling gowns that weren’t going to fit me. I wish she had been more upfront about which dresses were realistic options to try on, rather than repeatedly attempting to squeeze into gowns that were simply too small. It was uncomfortable and discouraging, and it took away from my confidence during an experience that should have felt exciting and special. What disappointed me most was that I had taken the time to share exactly what I was looking for before my appointment. I honestly would have preferred a simple text letting me know they didn’t carry those styles or have appropriate samples available. I would have completely understood and appreciated the honesty. Instead, I brought my family along for an appointment where, looking back, it felt like there was very little chance of finding what I wanted. I’m sharing this not to discourage anyone from visiting, but to help other plus-size brides know what to expect. Having a full rack of plus-size gowns is certainly a positive, but when nearly every dress is the same silhouette, it doesn’t necessarily translate to having a truly diverse selection. Every bride deserves to feel comfortable, confident, and excited while shopping for her wedding dress. Unfortunately, I left feeling more discouraged than celebrated, and I wish the experience had been different.

. Shailyn was my stylist and she helped me say yes to my wedding dress! She was extremely helpful with trying on dresses and thoughtful when picking out other options based on what I liked. Definitely check it out and if you book an appointment or just walk in be sure to ask for Shailyn!

and the two ladies at the front desk were warm and welcoming at each appointment I had. The dress and the bride was the bell of the ball! Im thrilled.
