Thanks to recommendations from couples on The Knot
For over 30 years, At Your Request Mobile DJ has been making weddings and receptions across Wichita, KS, special, offering professional and affordable emceeing, music, and lighting. It's the service before and during the event that makes the difference! I work with couples to ensure that the event exceeds expectations and through communication and planning, work to create an amazingly fun and low-stress event. I believe the job of a wedding DJ is to put the spotlight on the bride and groom and not on myself, ensuring a great experience for you, your family, and your guests!
I will meet with each couple and consult as needed to develop an itinerary for the event that will keep the event moving. A good DJ knows how to keep the party going and a well-planned event is so important to laying the foundation for success! Playing music and providing amplification at the ceremony is an option many couples utilize. I offer both lavaliere (clip-on) and hand-held microphones. Your officiant, musicians, or other speakers will be clearly heard by guests at the event. All vows will be audible to guests throughout the ceremony venue. Your music selections will take your guests on a journey from honoring the wedding families and wedding parties through the vows and first married kiss!
Every couple, their families, and their guests can bring diverse musical tastes and demands to the wedding. Whether a couple has specific songs in mind or just a "vibe", I can use online playlists or suggestions on music to create the desired atmosphere for the event. This includes the ceremony and the reception. Music volume is monitored throughout the event so all guests can enjoy themselves whether showing off their dance moves or visiting at a table. Guests may make requests as you determine appropriate prior to or at the event.
Emceeing a wedding requires the DJ to be fully present throughout the event. I see my role as a facilitator and communicator, as well as an entertainer. I don't "overtalk" or try to upstage the bride and groom. When I am on the microphone, especially during the reception, I want the guests to know what event is occurring or upcoming. Being interactive without being obnoxious is a talent I possess.
The Knot independently assesses vendors for this award—it’s never self-reported. We base it on firsthand experiences from real couples and guests, and they must have a 4.5-star average across 7+ reviews in the qualifying year.

Larry Perlman
DJ and owner
I have been a professional DJ since the early 80s--I began as a radio DJ at a college station at the University of Illinois. I soon realized I had a knack for music and entertaining and began my mobile DJ business. It has endured many music format changes over the years, but At Your Request DJ has always stood for service, value, and fun. I have been married for 31 years and have a wonderful family. I also recently retired from the Wichita Public Schools as an elementary school principal after a distinguished 35 year career. Performing at weddings and making a couple's big day special is a passion of mine. I would love to show you how I can elevate your wedding day!

s the wedding day approached, we asked for an additional meeting just to further explain our desires and make sure he was still on track, and he was! We were stress free during the whole process. We had made a Spotify playlist and we were easily able to send it to Larry for him to do his DJ magic. Throughout our wedding day he continued to make sure he was on track and he didn’t miss a beat. All of his equipment was phenomenal and we had no issues. We had an outdoor ceremony and an indoor reception and Larry seamlessly and effortlessly moved his equipment with out us even realizing it. Larry is a great MC and was able to explain the few games we had for our guests during cocktail hour. We 100% recommend him to anyone looking for a DJ!
