Arlene's Bridal Salon

d going through the pandemic) was flawless and I enjoyed all my visits there. Support this local small business! It’s a gem with a beautiful dress selection.

ey knew what would work for me without being pushy, had great prices, and every appointment from the first to final alterations was a great experience. Arlene's was my favorite part of the wedding planning process!

shops can be hard to find. I went to 15 appointments, but finally found the perfect Essence of Australia Dress at Arlene’s. As a plus size bride, the dress process was stressful for me in general, but Debbie and the seamstress Jesse made me feel confident along the way. Something I really loved about my dress was the raw edge hem overlay. When it came to alterations in order to keep the look, Jesse had to remove each lace applique by hand and move them up on the dress. I was terrified something would go wrong, but she did a perfect job! I highly recommend Arlene’s if you’re looking for a no frills bridal salon where they really provide you with individualized attention. Another bonus is alterations are a flat fee!

came out perfectly!

emailed Deb, the shop owner and I feel as if we became best friends before ever meeting. She went above and beyond to find the gown I loved to get it in her shop. When my mom and I went there and met with both Deb and Jewell we fell in love with them. They are amzing women and the shop is beautiful! I am grateful that I knew the gown I wanted or I would still be there trying on one beautiful gown after another because there is so much to choose from! Their selection of bridal gowns, bridesmaid and of course mothers etc. are amazing! My mom and I were treated like family and the seamstresses, (mine was Jessie), do extraordinary work! I absolutley loved my gown and the way I felt in it for the entire day. My mom also found her gown there and it was absolutely beautiful! We are so blessed to have met these amazing women and I am truly grateful for their kindness, support and attention to detail! Thank you Deb, Jewell and staff for making me look and feel beautiful!

and in the tuxes & videographer half of the shop, we were un-greeted by anyone. Eventually we walked ourselves in, and were told in passing by an employee to browse. The same employee eventually returned to tell my mom she was looking in the wrong section (bridesmaids, instead of mother of the bride), and suggested that *I* look in the bridesmaids section. When I pointed out that I’m the bride…she told me to “listen to what [she was] saying.” She then handed my mom a seemingly random assortment of dresses to try on. We let her know the color my mom would be looking for, the season of my wedding, and the type of cut/embellishments she wanted to avoid, but the employee just pointed us toward options that didn’t meet the criteria. The worst part of this experience was that there were other customers being helped who got to have hands-on assistance from staff members, even clients who arrived long after we did. Was that not the point of scheduling an appointment? My mom was really disappointed, and I was irate, so we finally left. It’s a cramped and crummy 1/2 of a store. I’ve lived in Bloomfield all my life and this store has always been around. After this experience I can’t imagine why they’re still in business, and I can only assume it has gotten worse since the pandemic. I prefer shopping small/local when possible, but honestly you’re better off with a David’s Bridal than Arlene’s.

ONLY bridal shop you will ever need to go to. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Debbie, Jewel, and the rest of the staff here. I went in for my dress appointment with a style in mind completely different than what I ended up with. I told Debbie what I was looking for, and she found me the exact dress to try on. When I realized I hated it on me, and no longer wanted that style, but didn’t know what else I would have liked, Debbie immediately knew what to show me- She pulled out a new Essence of Australia dress that had just come in, and told me that she just knew it was going to be perfect for me. I was skeptical at first, because it was not something I would have chosen on my own, but I decided to trust the professional and try it on. I was SO happy I did, and when I saw myself in my dress, I cried. She knew right away what I was going to like, and helped me pick a dress that quite literally felt like it was made for me. I knew right away that was my dress, and she came out with a sign and a bell, and did the whole “ are you saying yes to the dress?” thing. It was beautiful, and the whole experience was everything I could have wanted and more. I ended up bringing all of my bridesmaids there to get their dresses, and Debbie set up a whole “Sunday Funday” for us. We had the entire store to ourselves for 2 hours, and were able to bring snacks and champagne, and have such a great time finding all of the girls their dresses (I also had each girl in a different color and style, and they were all patient and great at finding the perfect dress for all 6 girls !) My dress arrived much earlier than expected, with no issues, and when I had to postpone my wedding for a year due to Covid, Debbie offered to store all of our dresses for the entire time without question. They are all just amazing there. Debbie and Jewel are an absolute dream team, and made this whole process not only easy and seamless, but also so fun and actually enjoyable! Thank you both so much for everything!

ed at Arlene's. I was a 'Covid' bride and had to postpone my wedding twice. Throughout the pandemic, Debbie was patient and flexible with storing and altering my dress. I had no issues and was confident that she would take good care of it. I would definitely recommend Arlene's Bridal to any bride in the North Jersey area! Working with Debbie is like working with family. She makes you feel so good! Thanks again for all of your help!

and Debbie made the process so easy! Even with the chaos of a global pandemic, they assured me everything would be amazing. They were absolutely right. After rescheduling our wedding but still getting married on the original date, the one thing I looked forward to most was being able to finally wear my wedding dress. My fittings were flawless and the seamstress team were the nicest women I've ever met, they made me feel so beautiful. Debbie helped me pick the most incredible cathedral length veil and I truly felt incredible on the day of our wedding! I highly recommend Arlene's Bridal to anyone looking for a truly magical experience!

ofessional bridal shop I had gone to and I found numerous dresses that I really liked there. When I found my dress, I fell in love right away and Debbie helped make me feel like the most beautiful bride there was. I knew I should have started here, especially knowing that my sister bought her bridal gown from Arlene’s about 8 years prior. When we got the news that we needed to postpone the wedding for an entire year, Debbie assured me that they could hold the dress and keep it safe until we were ready the following year. Sure enough, it was even more perfect than what I could remember when I last tried it on. One of the things I appreciated most about Arlene’s was the hospitality they offered and no one there was pushy in any way. They offered their genuine advice but did not push any additional sales. Everytime I came in, they knew exactly who I was and remembered my own individual story. This made everything feel much more personal and made me happy to pick a boutique so close to my hometown. I highly recommend all brides to check out Arlene’s, you will not be disappointed!

I was the only important person there. The only reason I am giving them four stars is because their seamstress could have been better. On the top where she took my dress in, there was some unevenness with the fabric under the lace. The bottom was also not hemmed enough. I ended up stepping on the bottom throughout the night because of the lace bottom and even stepped and tore some of the lace off the bottom. It is hard to know what a seamstress is doing without any prior knowledge, but I do wish I had someone else do it.

it was a spur of the moment pick by Debbie after actually listening to what I like and didn’t want in my dress! They all know their stuff and so amazingly sweet and easy going! She made me feel so comfortable and I knew that I was in great hands. I could not have asked to be able to find my dress with the best woman ever! Debbie and her team at Arlene’s was so helpful from start to finish! I felt so beautiful and my gown was everything I never knew I wanted! The details and the fit of the dress was perfect! The dress picked me and I trusted myself to pick it. I am so delighted! I love the team at Arlene’s Bridal!!

reat deal since we ordered the bridesmaids dresses from Arlenes. The week of the wedding, we had an additional add-on request and they handled it with no issues. Everyone who works there is so friendly and knowledgable and made the process so easy – we’re so grateful we went with them! Thank you for making our men look good!

e and tell me how stunning my dress was and how it was so different than anything they've ever seen. I had gone to a few other dress shops, and every dress the others had me try on were so wrong for me. I found a dress in another store that I thought could be the one, so, I e-mailed Deb a picture of it, and she knew the dress, right down to the designer and model number (I didn't write it down from the other shop), I was blown away. I tried the dress on at Arlene's and we all knew it was wrong as soon as I put it on. The thing I loved most about Arlene's was they listened to me! I hate wedding dresses with lace, and they helped me find the perfect wedding dress without lace! And I was able to look through dresses myself, with expert guidance, rather than having someone with no experience shuffle through a bunch of dresses in the back to put me in. Lastly, they helped me get the proper undergarments. I know that sounds silly, but, undergarments really make or break a dress, and the corset Pam put me in pulled the whole outfit together. The expert tailoring, the experience and knowledge of Deb and her team, the level of customer service I received at Arlene's was unlike anything anywhere else. All of my girls got their dresses here too, and they looked STUNNING. I loved every moment of my experience at Arlene's, and I'm just sad that it's over.

dress, but they were able to completely transform my mom’s mother of the bride dress that needed a ton of work to fit her amazingly!

My mom got her wedding dress from Arlene's, which made it that much more special. I told Debbie what I had in my head and she pulled dresses that fit my description perfectly. I tried on only 5 dresses and made my decision so easily. I was even able to adjust two parts of the dress I ordered to make it exactly how I wanted it, and it came out perfect. Jesse also did a phenomenal job at altering my dress. It fit like a glove and I was able to dance and have a great time without having to worry if my dress was coming down. My bridesmaids, mom, aunt, and grandma ordered their dresses from Arlene's as well, and they were stunning. My husband, the groomsmen, and our fathers also got their tuxedos from Starlite Tuxedo right inside the salon, and Al was great through the whole process and made it so easy. I highly recommend Arlene's!!!

dent in the process! I loved them so much that I went back there to get my girls' bridesmaid dresses. Working with them was so easy. They were a quick phone call away whenever I needed something and they kept me updated about the process of my girls' dresses. I would recommend them to anyone who wants a small bridal salon with a community of cheerleaders behind them! Thank you to everyone at Arlene's for making all of my girls look so beautiful on my wedding day.

was that Arlene’s Bridal and the owner Debbie take such pride in their work and truly care about making every bride feel special on their wedding day. With a curvier figure, I often find it difficult to find dresses that fit me properly. My consultant Jewel was so knowledgeable about the gowns that she quickly calmed my fears and concerns. She made sure that I tried multiple options to be sure that my original choice was the best and helped me to reaffirm my original decision. Throughout the fitting process, the owner Debbie made sure that my dress was fitted to make me feel comfortable and beautiful on my special day. Debbie is truly a perfectionist who notices every detail and put the care and attention into ensuring my gown was perfect.

ptions". As a plus size bride, this naturally made me very excited. I went there and was greeted with someone on a personal phone call. After a minute my mom and I were greeted very nicely and was told she would be getting Jewel. Jewel greeted us warmly and hugged us. We went downstairs and were told to sit. She began grabbing dresses for me to try on. She grabbed old, frumpy dresses and looked NOTHING like the one I fell in love with. Someone else who worked there picked a different dress which I liked a lot...was very similar to the one I fell in love with. After spending about 5 min in the dress I asked if a veil could be placed on me, which she did... Then she said "so I still have one more dress for you to try on"...which i didn't love. She then told me "ok you can get dressed now". Spent about 40 min in the store. Jewel was very distracted and kept going to another bride. Upon coming out of the fitting room there was a whole other bridal party sitting there.... My time was clearly over whether I wanted it to be or not. When I went back upstairs I felt very pressured to make a decision. Made a tentative appointment to go back on Saturday, but I will be canceling it. I told her I didn't know if my bridesmaids could come next Saturday and she said "well, you can't wait for them forever". Left a very bad taste in my mouth. Will not return.

make the fitting process and the shopping experience as pleasant and smooth as possible .. I also got my moms dress and bridesmaid dresses there and everything had come out beautifully.. I highly recommend them to every bride you wouldn’t regret it ❤️👰🏻

e. Deb is amazing!!!! I have recommended Arlene's Bridal to everyone I talk to!

tments, that's how organized they are. I had a pretty easy dress shopping experience. First dress I tried on was the one I ended up going for. They were sweet, attentive, and patient. Thank you ladies for making my experience wonderful!

All the dresses at Arlene’s were beautiful and unique – I found my dress with ease! Debbie and the staff were very helpful and friendly to work with. Throughout the alteration process, I was amazed at what Jesse was able to accomplish. She made the dress fit as if it were made for me! I thought the dress prices were reasonable as well. I attended the veil and headpiece show a few months later, and got a great deal on a matching veil & hair pins! Huge shout out and Thank You to everyone there – I would highly recommend!

y sress had

things about our experience from the moment you walk in till you leave with your gowns in hand. Debbie and Jewel are on the money with assisting in finding the perfect dresses and all the alterations were perfectly done. It was a stress free experience and They make it easy to look and feel beautiful on the big day

s, I became overjoyed to know that they carried this dress and more importantly had it in the store to try on. From my very first experience at Arlene's to my last appointment, everyone there made me feel like I was their only customer. Deb, Jule and the seamstress were all great to work with! They genuinely made me feel like "a bride." They gave great suggestions for shoes, accessories and jewelry, as well. I would definitely recommend Arlene's Bridal to any bride!

rom here, all my bridesmaids got their dresses here, and my cousin also just bought her wedding dress here as well! They make you feel like family!!! They never ever try to push a dress that's more expensive, they will only tell you what they feel looks the best ! I Jessi the wedding dress tailor is amazing !! My dress was very large on me she had to take it in about 3 sizes and she did it in one fitting! It fits me like a glove! I can't thank this bridal salon enough for being nothing short of amazing with my dress and my girls dresses !!! Go there and you won't be disappointed!!

I tried on. I did end up leaving my appointment empty handed to check out more options at a few big name dress boutiques. My experience at all of these other places was awful. Every other dress shop felt very rushed and limited where the assoicates were simply trying to make a sale and get you out the door. I ultimately returned to Arlene's where I bought the dress from the first appointment. I also had my alterations done here by Jessie and had my bridesmaids purchase their dresses from Arlene's as well. The service is above and beyond and everyone in the shop is so knowledgeable. They do an excellent job at recommending styles that flatter you and your bridesmaids and the alterations were done to perfection. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time going to the other big name dress shops in the area, go straight to Arlene's. Debbie is so passionate about her business and every trip to the shop felt like a visit with family. To top it off, my husband and the groomsmen got their tuxes next door at Starlight with the same exceptional service and guidance we received at Arlene's. I can not recommend them enough!

le of years, the person who answered was rude and tried telling me that I would get confused because I am getting started too early. Really? Then she hung up on me. Sorry that they have lost a customer even before I walked through the door.

nt I walked in I had the same feeling as some of those yelp reviews - my guest and I were greeted with a very curt "give me a minute and I'll be with you" and it went downhill from there. There is nothing warm and inviting about the personnel or the experience, I felt like chattel during what is supposed to be an exciting time for a bride to be. Having visited several other bridal salons in the area that have great customer service, I would not give my business to this salon.

ansition seamless. Thank you! :)

of us and we knew we would be a handful. I have to say all 7 girls plus my mother all picked dresses out first and did so in about 40 minutes! Impressive with only two ladies helping us pick out dresses and also help figure which dress is best for who. We then popped some champagne I brought to celebrate!! Every was very happy with their choices, some even had trouble deciding between two dresses. Deb (owner) was able to find the right fit and style for all body types - her 6th sense is truly amazing!!! Not all heroes wear capes :) For my dress I really thought I had it all figured out.. I tried on a bunch I picked out and they just weren’t “the one.” Deb says hold on a just got a new one, I think it will be perfect for you. She literally just pulls this dress out of a new shipment and the tears are flowing, from everyone! I would have never picked this dress myself or even tried it on. Once the vail was on, it was over. I said Yes to the Dress!! One last thing is I was having trouble with my colors and I wanted to make sure it would look great, we snuck to the tuxedo shop on the other side and compared all the colors before I picked the bridesmaids colors. Being able to do that put everything at ease. Arlene’s provides everything we needed and made us feel at home. Thank you!!

’m crazy and says you can’t get anything brushes me off and sits down in her stool and ignores me . Not a way to treat your customers. Do you know if I had an unfortunate event that forced me to move my wedding date up? She didn’t even look at me. She was rude before when I tried getting a dress there before and she was rude to me again months later. Don’t waste your time here.

mstress did such an amazing job on my alterations and bustle, my dress fit like a glove! I felt like a princess on my wedding day and they made sure of it! Every detail was perfect!

went bankrupt and I thought we were done for...but Debbie came to the rescue!!! She helped me get all new gowns and were even better than before!! It was an absolute pleasure working with them and I would reccommend them to anyone!! Thank you so much for making my bridesmaids look INCREDIBLE!!

l like you are the only bride in the world!

with them after her dress came in for alternations and they did a wonderful job fitting the dress to her body. The one mark that tainted the whole thing is the dress bag. My MIL had been commuting from Bronx, NY to Bloomfield, NJ for each alternation visit. When it came to taking her dress home, they gave her a plastic garment bag that you would expect from Banana Republic, not a bag for a $800+ dress. When my MIL inquired as to why she got that bag vs a cloth dress bag, they said those were only for the brides. So they sent her home with that bag. After she got back to the Bronx, still very bothered, she called them to express her dissatisfaction to which they told her that if she wanted a cloth bag, she only had to pay $15 for one. That is not what she was told or what she was offered before she left. They then said if she wanted to come back, they would provide her one. Why was that not offered BEFORE she left? She turned them down as it cost more to travel back across the GWB to get it. From what started as a wonderful transaction was tainted by a flippant attitude toward making a customer happy.

loving my experience at the store there, I called Arlene's to see if they had it in stock. Debbie answered the phone and from the very second she answered the phone I was at ease and knew I was in good hands. Debbie even said "Em, call me as many times as you need with as many questions as you have!" which was a first out of the many stores I had called. Even though I was calling to CANCEL my bridal dress try on for the upcoming weekend due to a scheduling conflict, Debbie said I could come into the store on my way home from work at 4:15 (even though they close at 5) just to try the dress I loved on! I was greeted with a smile upon entering the store and not only did Debbie help me try on the dress, she also had me try on another she thought I would like and took pictures of me in it. Debbie had wonderful ideas about how to alter the dress to my liking and truly put me at ease. I will definitely be back to try on the dress again with my mom and my MOH! What a wonderful first experience at Arlene's! Thank you Debbie!

that has endured the transformation of Bloomfield center over the span of 40 plus years could not make a rookie mistakes. This was not the case for my November wedding. I went to Arlene's when I discovered that the bridal salon where I was purchasing my wedding dress did not carry the Morie Lee line that I was interested in for my girls. I figured why not give this well established business in my own town a shot! When I arrived I was mocked for purchasing a dress made by a designer they did not carry, but because they had my girls' dress available I stayed with Arlene's. All 6 of my girls were measured and were told the lace style fitted gown I selected was sized bigger than normal. When the dresses arrived, none of them fit and were too small. We were so disappointed that only 2 of the 6 girls trusted the seamstress there to make the necessary repairs to the dresses so they would fit my girls. Buyer beware just because a shop has been in business as long as Arlene's, does not mean that they are the "right fit" for your special day.

al party and were very reasonably priced. My bridesmaids also had the choice of having the alterations done there or taking the dress elsewhere for alterations, which I liked because my girls lived in all different areas. I highly recommend checking out Arlene’s Bridal Salon!

ll (at a discount, since I was an "Arlene's bride!" It doesn't get better than that!). I was originally drawn to Arlene's because they carried a Casablanca gown I had my eye on, but my family and I were quickly impressed with the entire staff of sales associates. Their knowledge, eye for style, and ability to read their customers desires/reactions was so helpful and very much appreciated as I navigated the entire process of trying on dresses, purchasing, selecting accessories, alterations, etc. My mother in particular thought she would NEVER find something she liked, and after trying on a few dresses one associate pulled a dress my mom would have never picked out herself. She didn't have it on for even five minutes before she "said yes to the dress." The associate truly nailed it and mom looked AMAZING! Nothing but good things to say about Arlene's. I would happily recommend!

o make the anxiety melt away! I'm sending everyone who's getting married their way!

dresses that I absolutely love. Camilla was an amazing dress consultant and Nikki helped so much during the whole process. The owner Debbie is SO sweet and makes everyone feel welcome. But I really need to shout out Jessie - she must have magic hands because she made my dress look and feel like it was my second skin. She took lumpy parts of the boning and smoothed it out to lay nicely against my silhouette. She added some extra tulle under my gown to make it more full at the bottom. She had to oh-so-carefully remove all the delicate lace to shorten the dress and made the most delicate (yet complicated lol) bustle for my train. Jessie is fantastic and worth every penny for alterations. I am sending all of my newly engaged friends to this bridal shop!

taff was a delight and so helpful. My mother also ended up getting her MOB dress from Arlene's as well. The staff was so helpful during all encounters and made it very easy for my girls to get their dresses! Highly recommend!!!!
