Laura and her team did an amazing job for both me and my 3 bridesmaids. We opted for hair, makeup (airbrush finish), lashes. One of my bridesmaids/best friends is Chinese, me and one of my other bridesmaids/best friends has very sensitive skin, and Laura and her team worked AMAZINGLY for everyone! We all felt and looked amazing. Guests were impressed as well (which is a fun bonus).
Laura is very responsive, attentive, and she is very good at what she does. I would recommend Laura as a hair AND makeup artist.

I appreciated that she was able to work with a smaller group (me and mother-in-laws) and her pricing was very reasonable. We spent a lot of time during the hair and makeup trial trying different options, which made me feel so much more confident the day-of. Laura would check-in throughout the process to make sure we were on the right track, which I appreciated as well! I was so happy with the final result- I felt beautiful but still looked like myself.

Hello! I’m Laura B., owner and lead artist of Ara Bee Collective, an AAPI-owned beauty collective based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. As a half-Korean American adoptee, my cultural background has deeply influenced my artistry and the values behind my business.
With more than 17 years of experience in the beauty industry, I’ve had the opportunity to train and work alongside talented hairstylists and makeup artists throughout my career. I founded Ara Bee Collective in 2021 with a goal of creating greater diversity, representation, and inclusivity within the Minnesota wedding industry, especially for people of color and multicultural couples.
Ara (아라) means beauty, elegance, and depth in Korean, reflecting our approach to beauty: intentional, personal, and rooted in care. Today, I lead a talented team of hairstylists and makeup artists who share my passion for inclusive beauty and creating a welcoming, affirming experience for every client.
We specialize in multicultural weddings and provide on-location hair and makeup services within 45 miles of Minneapolis, with services also available in San Diego, California. Whether you’re looking for a classic, modern, cultural, or completely personalized look, our goal is to help you feel confident, comfortable, and completely yourself on your wedding day.

ed my mind from romantic curls to Hollywood curls and Laura was absolutely able to pull off the change. She's so pleasant to work with and we chatted about anime and gaming the whole time! My hair is ridiculously stubborn (straight and unable to hold curls) and I got a touch up session, which was a great call! My hair was curled all through the night and the tiara stayed up 'til the end. I only got airbrush foundation since I always do my own makeup, and I'm so happy I did! It felt light and stayed on well despite the mist and tears. Unfortunately, my 2 out of 3 bridesmaids weren't too satisfied with their makeup/hair and did their own touch ups afterwards. I can't say for sure if I'd go to them for East Asian makeup styles (ie: Igari or K-pop Idol), but they did great with a soft glam! She was also so thoughtful and gave the girls a little lip touch-up kit and I'm glad I could give them a fun experience (I paid for their hair and makeup). I'd recommend so long as you're comfortable communicating any changes, Laura's super professional and knowledgeable!

Laura adapted to two very different clients. I'm indecisive about my hair, so she told me what she thought would look good and I asked her to run with it. My wife is the opposite — she came in with a few ideas she'd seen on social media, and Laura walked her through the strengths and weaknesses of each one, then helped her land on something that balanced the look she wanted with the practical realities of wearing your hair all day at a wedding.
My wife also did a hair and makeup trial beforehand, so there were no surprises on the day itself. Laura is helpful, easy to communicate with, and clearly knows her stuff. I actually changed where I get my haircut and now only go to Laura!

This is a feat, as my group had varying skin tones, ethnicities, hair types, etc. Laura brought in her team, and Sean and Esnury were fabulous also. Prices are competitive to rest of local market, better than most! Laura also came back for a touch-up between ceremony and reception, which is an add-on service. SO WORTH IT, because though my makeup & hair lasted, it very warm on my wedding day… so it was great to get a refresh after getting a tad steamy during outdoor pictures. panese and Asian hair ornaments into my hairstyle, and creating an “east meets west” with a modern twist.
She and her team were also able to do the hair and makeup for step-mom, sister, and MIL, who range from Caucasian to African, and everyone loved their look!
In addition to all this, she took us on fairly last-minute. My previous hair and makeup artist had forgotten my trial appointments and several other things, so we needed to look for someone to help less than a month before the wedding. My fiancé reached out to Laura and told her our story. She was so gracious and kind, that she took us on right away!
I appreciate how Laura made sure to communicate with me often, making sure I gave her feedback after the trial and incorporating it right away, as well as easing any anxieties I might have had.
Finally, did I mention what an awesome person she is to talk to?! We talked so much about where to find good food, k-dramas, and animes we were watching! Such a cool person!!!

basis and calls it a day, I loved that after showing Laura some inspiration photos, she was able to create gorgeous hair and makeup looks that added her own flair to them. She has such a beautiful eye for detail and while getting ready, my cousins and bridesmaids kept commenting on how pretty my hairstyle was. I had two different hair ornaments that wanted to use, one for the ceremony and one for the reception, and Laura graciously stayed and helped exchange them out and helped secure my super poofy veil into my updo. Even with all the accidental pulling while walking around, the veil stayed perfectly in place.
Laura is so patient and so kind and she really took her time to make me look and FEEL beautiful. While looking for wedding vendors, we wanted to find people who honored and celebrated diversity by showcasing people from all different walks of life in their portfolios. Asian eyes, in particular, can be very difficult to work with in the USA since many makeup artists do not always take the time to educate themselves on the different ways the eyes need to be contoured. But with Laura, she did such a beautiful job with my eye makeup, and my MIL and SIL, who she also did makeup on, looked stunning and their eyes really popped. She took such care with the base makeup and my skin was glowing, even with a violently brewing chin pimple.
Her assistant Sean was lovely and did a great job with my bridesmaids' hairstyles! I really appreciated that they helped retouch my bridesmaids' curls on request as well! Truly, their hair looked so gorgeous!
I feel so grateful that I have found a friend in Laura and truly, for my BIPOC brides, she has put in the effort to learn how to make sure she honors your features and showcases them in the most beautiful way! I would highly recommend hiring her for all your beauty needs!

She was able to squeeze in hair and makeup appointments into her schedule for a last minute elopement. Laura is very easy going and very easy to work with. She was able to recreate the looks I was looking for based on the inspiration photos and videos provided. Additionally, she checked in after step of the way to ensure everything’s still going well. For makeup, she color-matched me perfectly and her eye makeup complimented the shape of my eyes so well; I have never felt so beautiful in my life. I am so so excited to hire her for my wedding and for fellow brides of color in MN, cannot recommend her more! ervous about the makeup application. It didn’t seem like a good amount of coverage & didn’t leave me feeling super beautiful. So for the wedding day, I had her use my own foundation so I could feel my best. My bun ended up falling apart during the reception of my wedding. My hair accessories didn’t stay in after the ceremony because they weren’t secured enough.
In terms of personality, Laura is more shy & reserved, so I wouldn’t recommend for someone who is in need of more guidance. Some of my bridesmaids were unhappy with how their hair & makeup turned out as well.

all of us look fantastic and I was so happy to have her at our venue instead of having to consider timing to and from a salon. They ran almost an hour ahead of schedule which, personally, I thought was great so that any other last minute hiccups could be taken care of if needed before the ceremony. We all also got small portions of our lip color to reapply as needed which was super helpful for pictures and after eating at the reception. Laura is super easy to contact and chat with and such a nice person. I will definitely be recommending her and her services to anyone I know who needs make up or hair services done!
