About this vendor
Hi there! My approach to photographing your wedding is informed by my passions of street photography and my training as a musician. My eyes and ears guide me to anticipate what might unfold and I hope to reveal the nature of relationships and the emotions felt on your wedding day. I mainly work with small cameras to be as unobtrusive as possible.
For portrait sessions, I minimally direct couples, to capture a sense of spontaneity and show your connection to one another. While I am very fast and decisive when setting up large group portraits, I also keep it loose and fun for everyone. And, everyone who has come together to celebrate your day – that is, all of your guests – are equally important to me photographically.
Light, color and composition are an obsessions, which largely comes from working professionally in a color darkroom, where I learned to paint with light. This becomes especially fun to play with on the dance floor, where you will see me all over the place, until it’s time to go home.
I am based in Brooklyn and New Orleans and also available for destinations worldwide.
I look forward to hearing from you!

April was fantastic. We had a second line parade through New Orleans for our wedding (not your usual photo shoot to be sure) and she nailed it. The photos came out beautifully and ...
very In the Moment, something that was very important to me. She was like a little ninja, darting in and out of the crowds to get the best angles. Also, she's super fun and easy going, making my chaotic day a breeze. Her pricing is very reasonable and you definitely get more than what you pay for. We hope to renew our with another parade in 10 years, and if she's available we'll use her again for sure!
Thanks again April!
We loved working with April so much! From our first conversation with her we could tell that she is so passionate about what she does and she really helped us to capture our day in...
such a special way. She and her assistant, Reuben, made the whole process so seamless and went above and beyond to make sure we got all the shots we wanted - formal photos, action photos, candids, you name it. Our photographs are truly beautiful and we had such an amazing time going through them and reliving such fun memories. April is amazing and we couldn't recommend her more highly!
April is the sweetest photographer I’ve ever worked with ! During our wedding week, I came down with a bad cold and she offered to help me in any way possible (unrelated to photogr...
aphy needs). She constantly checked on me to make sure I was okay leading up to our wedding day . On the day of, April was very optimistic and upbeat at all times; ready to assist and go with the flow. She made my bridesmaids and me very comfortable with various poses and ideas. We had an amazing time! April is not only charismatic, but she is punctual (early), follows directions, and finds the right shots/angles to showcase everyone’s best qualities. She is talented, charming, and a pleasure to be around. And her photos, well they speak for themselves. Shortly after our wedding we were given access to our own webpage with all of our photos. My husband and I were in awe. They look like they’re out of a magazine spread. I can’t thank April enough for the photos we will cherish for a lifetime. Signed, a very happy bride (Di’ana)
April and I talked early on, months before my wedding to discuss what was most to me picture wise. I was very specific about what I wanted and was very non traditional when it came...
to the typical posed wedding pictures. She was so friendly, very polite, and fit right in with the wedding day commotion. After editing, my wedding pictures are EXACTLY what I wanted and I am still in awe over them. The coloring, the fun, and intimate pictures she captured from my wedding day take my husband and I back every time we look at them. April is my photographer for life simply because she exceeded all my expectations. Next shoot, maturity pictures!
We could not be happier with April and Galina. We had a really large space with a balcony, and so having two photographers allowed us to get photos of absolutely everything. They w...
ere both so kind and accommodating, and totally gave us the feeling that they had it, and we didn’t need to worry about anything. The pictures are incredible- edited and ready to go, and really captured those precious moments beautifully.
My fiance and I interviewed what felt like dozens of photographers before we met April and Galina. We knew immediately that they were the photographers for us. They made us feel co...
mfortable by asking us questions about who we are, how we met, and taking a genuine interest in us, our relationship, and our wedding, making it an easy decision to sign the contract for our engagement and wedding photos. April was a pleasure to work with—she had a positive, fun attitude and creative eye that really made us feel at ease during our engagement shoot. We took pictures in Central Park; April expertly navigated the Sunday afternoon crowd to find the best places and light to capture our vision. We're delighted with what we've seen so far and are looking forward to working with April and Galina on our wedding.

ous with their time before the wedding, meeting with us on multiple occasions to prepare for the big day and making sure we felt 100% comfortable. On the day of the wedding, they captured beautiful and authentic moments of both us and our guests. We will truly cherish our pictures forever thanks to this amazing team!
Galina was a joy to work with! I have never had professional photos taken before, so I was nervous. She made us comfortable and helped us find poses and positions that felt natural...
and looked great. We used her for engagement photos and for the wedding day. We were in a remote location outside of New York, and she went above and beyond to make our day extra special. April was out of town for our ceremony day, so Nicolette came with Galina and she was every bit as professional and kind to work with. They were discreet, even with the location changes, yet were always nearby if I wanted a specific picture. They took post-ceremony family photos go by quickly (thankfully), Galina has been quick to respond to all emails and questions, we got the engagement photos back very quickly, and Galina even sent us a preview of the ceremony photos a few days later. We used them for 3 separate days/events, so the overall pricing was totally worth every penny. I highly recommend them!
Galina flew in from New York to Houston to shoot our wedding. She came in with an open mind, enthusiasm, and an amazing creative eye. She was a joy to work with and handled the c...
raziness of a wedding like a pro. I was very confident in her ability to wrap her head around the entire event and create and capture the finest moments of our wedding. I've read over and over how important having a good photographer is, and Galina is the best!

y comfortable with them. We really appreciated how responsive they were in the weeks leading up to the wedding. The photos are beyond beautiful and really captured the spirit of the day. I would highly recommend working with April+Galina!
We booked April+Galina on very short notice and they were nothing but awesome! They made time to get to know us and what we wanted from our photos/wedding, and was very responsive....
On the day they were flexible, engaging and had great ideas for what shots we should have. We also received our photos really quickly and WE LOVE THEM! Highly recommended, and thank you!

feel awkward. Their use of light is incredible, and we were absolutely blown away by the photos! They are truly works of art!!!! I would recommend April+Galina Photography to anyone looking for artistic photos, beautiful use of light, and wonderful candids.
I'm a believer in hiring talented people and just letting them do their thing. Based on my experience, the end result tends to be quite positive. And this was the case when I hired...
April+Galina to photograph my engagement proposal. They were organized, personable, and just easy to work with. Also, they were able to improvise, which is, in my opinion, an under appreciated quality for this type of moment. And the pictures came out great. I have already hired them for the wedding this fall.
April and Galina were superstars! They showed up right on time, and no matter how crazy things were while I was getting ready, they stayed cool and got every important shot. I got ...
married at a huge estate in New York, and they were running all over the property to capture every moment, splitting up to capture different locations at the same time. They were like ghosts when it came to the ceremony, capturing everything without distracting anyone - like true professionals. They were all over the cocktail hour and reception, getting every important shot. They're also so kind and have such warm personalities. I'm usually VERY uncomfortable on camera, but they made me feel so comfortable, and the photos came out so natural and beautiful. Exactly how I would have hoped, and more.
We had an amazing wedding and these photographers were equally amazing to work with. They were easy going and flexible and were really great with the guests. They gave really great...
direction and suggestions and blended well into the ceremony and party to get some good shots. We have some wonderful memories to look back on now via the photos. Thanks ladies!
We wanted something a little different for our non-traditional wedding, so we worked with Galina to take vintage-looking tintypes. We're so happy with how the came out! The whole p...
