About this vendor
My name is Ariel - I'm an avid hiker, outdoor enthusiast, mom of 4 and full time wedding & lifestyle photographer!
My style is a little bit quirky, bold, colorful and 100% authentic.
If we work together you can expect to laugh a lot - Sometimes with and sometimes at me - both are 100% okay! You should know that I'm always up for swapping adventure stories over a beer... Many of our clients have turned into great friends, I wouldn't want it any other way. We might climb a mountain or get stuck in the rain, if that sounds like your idea of fun we're probably a good fit! I've been known to climb a tree or lay in the mud for the sake of creating a good image.
I believe capturing those fleeting in between moments is as equally important as the big moments.
I want to tell your story!

I wanted to share my experience with Ariel and AMW studios.
Let me start by saying there was very little communication from the beginning but became worse as time went on.
...
We had to cancel our Alaskan wedding due to personal concerns, but we canceled 10 months in advance which is 4 months more than she required for us to get our deposit back. After I canceled in November I received absolutely response until January with poor excuses of “weather, messages in my spam folder, poor cell service” all while she was posting on social media every single day in that timeframe.
She offered to give our second payment back and then 40% of our deposit if she rebooks a wedding for that date. I agreed to that solution in january and waited patiently for my check in the mail. She had 6 months to repay us. After not receiving ANY response to that solution I sent a follow up email in February, March, and April. Finally in May, 20 days before she owed us our money I receive an email from her explaining that she spent all of my money on “life challenges” and “slow winter season” and asked if she could basically set up a payment plan. I refused this option because the absolute lack of communication made me lose all confidence in her business and honesty.
I received my payment back 1 month after the 6 month timeline and I highly doubt I’ll be seeing that 40% of my deposit back.
My dad pulled money from his retirement to help me pay for my wedding and I will not get that money back and I have to live with that on my conscious.
I have never been so disappointed in a business in my life.. I trusted that she would take care of us and have the wedding of my dreams but that turned into a nightmare very quickly. I started to get a bad feeling when she said our chain emails got lost in her spam folder and she stopped replying to me and was replying to my fiancé’s emails. It’s really true when they say “trust your gut”.
Ariel is incredibly talented and kind! She took the most beautiful photos and was open to hiking with us for engagement photos and also took photos for our 80 person wedding and wa...
s able to capture beautiful photos in both situations. She helped us feel calm and relaxed through the pre wedding jitters and captured all of the awesome moments and small details of the day. She was so organized and punctual and helped with timing. 10/10 recommend!

n October. Once we realized that we'd need to scale down due to COVID, we decided to have a fun, family only event. Ariel went above and beyond to work with us to ensure that our needs were met and drove down from NC to our home in ATL to document our special day, which happened to be on a holiday. She beautifully captured the joy of the day, coaching us during our couple shots to really feel comfortable with her presence. She felt like another member of the family. Our portfolio captured who we are as individuals, a couple, and a family, and we couldn't be happier with the colorful, natural photos we received. Hire her!
Ariel and Matt went over and beyond for us. They are extremely talented and make it easy on the bride. My full trust is with this company, and I cannot thank them enough for their ...

able for us. Whether it was questions about clothes/colors or locations she had an answer for everything. She took us to a waterfall she hadn’t been to since she was a kid and the pictures there were amazing! I felt comfortable working with her immediately and she was a pleasure to talk to throughout our whole trip and I could tell that she really cares about learning about her clients!
My husband and I got married in May of this year and we were so beyond fortunate to get to have AMW Studios as our photographers. For starters, Ariel and Matt are such an amazing c...
ouple and really took the time to get to know us which I think is so important! They really listened to our backstory and what our goal was in the pictures and with the wedding! I got the pleasure of speaking to them on the phone multiple times, meeting them in person and grabbing food with Ariel! Needless to say they really went above and beyond! The first session I did was with Ariel for my bridal portraits and her work BLEW me away! Her talent and ability to capture a moment in a unique and wonderful way is so amazing. Then came time for the wedding. You guys...every single picture was amazing. All of our guests were obsessing over their photography and I’ve already had a friend reach out to me about wanting to use them for her wedding this coming year! They really took the time to learn the wedding timeline and because of that they were able to follow along with it perfectly. They also were such an amazing support system and helping out during it in so many ways! I truly cannot rave enough about this couple. Every emotion was captured so perfectly so we can constantly relive each moment. Do yourself a favor and book with them! Thank you Ariel and Matt for the amazing AMAZING photographs :)
We are thrilled we chose Ariel as our engagement and wedding photographer. We love all the pictures and cannot wait to fill our home with them. She handled everything with a smile ...

They are truly fantastic in every way-- from photographs to professionalism to personality, AMW Studios is the way to go. You won't regret it one bit!
Ariel is amazing. She captured our wedding (and engagement session) perfectly and was so flexible. I cannot recommend AMW highly enough.

eep hearing from our friends and family, is how our pictures did not just capture the important memories but the emotion and mood of the whole evening. She really has a gift.
My now father in law was so impressed with how one photographer was so subtle in her presence and yet captured such detail and depth in her pictures. We often find ourselves looking at the photos and every time feel we are back in that moment. They are truly brilliant.
When you look back on your wedding day, there are many things you reflect upon and could possibly do different. This is the one thing we would never change.
We couldn’t recommend Ariel enough
Beyond being outrageously gifted photographers, Ariel & Matt are salt of the earth people who we really felt right at home with immediately :) Our experience from bridal portraits...

Finding them and having them be a part of it all was the best decision we made (We truly love every single photo!). ions quickly. Ariel sent us out a detailed survey month-of to make sure they would get all the shots we wanted. After the survey, Ariel made sure to follow up over the phone to ensure she knew exactly what we wanted out of our wedding day photos.
Day-of, Ariel and Matt were incredible. Honestly, we could not have asked for more friendly, nice, creative, amazing (the list goes on and on!) people to work with. They made group photos feel effortless and the photo outcomes were amazing! During the ceremony and reception, many of our guests asked if we even had photographers - that is how good they were at fading into the background. We would 100% recommend AMW Studios and would use them again in a heartbeat!

They were there the entire day for our wedding and the pictures they got were exactly what we were looking for. I appreciate that they stuck to the deadlines they had promised. 100% would recommend the team at AMW Studios. My husband and I have had two sessions with them- one for our engagement and one for our post-wedding adventure! My husband's from NC ...
and I'm from CA and we wanted to shoot our engagement and post-wedding in his home state since our wedding was in CA. We love hiking & the outdoors and the team at AMW Studios was the perfect fit for us. They loved exploring and adventure as we do! and we were able to find the coolest spots to shoot with the perfect lighting. We were nervous at first for our engagement shoot because we didn't know how natural we were going to be or if it was going to be awkward but Ariel (from AMW studios) made it so comfortable. We were laughing and having a great time the second we met. It's as if we've known her forever! We absolutely loved the outcome of our photos and am so grateful that we have these to cherish for the rest of our lives! Thanks AMW Studios!
I cannot stop looking at the pictures from our wedding day, they are incredible! Ariel was so nice and easy-going during both our engagement shoot and on our wedding day. I would r...

If I chose anything perfectly for my wedding, it was Ariel. Our wedding was outside in the middle of the summer along a creek (and was very hot) -- she was early, she is incredibly...
outgoing and great with all ages of people (aka herding cats) and she did the whole shoot on her own while pregnant. I have never been so impressed with someone. I had to worry about nothing. The images are AMAZING. As in, stunning. She is one of the most gifted photographers I have ever encountered and I'm so grateful we chose her and she chose to work with us!
Ariel is AMAZING! She went above and beyond to make a surprise engagement shoot unforgettable with breathtaking pictures. After two plans were thwarted by weather, Ariel sacrificed...
her entire weekend by driving to three different places on Saturday and Sunday and ultimately suggesting the final proposal site. She was selfless with her time and energy, highly professional and engaging, and an absolute joy to be around. Her dedication to creating the perfect proposal and photographs for us made the engagement as spectacular as could be. Additionally, her kind nature helped us to feel relaxed and truly enjoy our photo session. My fiancé and I are incredible grateful for all that she did to make our engagement so special! Our engagement would not have been as wonderful without her!

t to work with and deliver exemplary result, contact Ariel now before she is booked up for the upcoming wedding season. And don’t waste time reading any further. However, if you need absolutely need convincing, read on.
Little on my background… I have done a bit of wedding photography myself, and worked for a summer as a contract photographer for my local newspaper. Therefore, I am some exposure to paid photography works.
My top two initial factors as I began my search are 1) fit my budget and 2) have shot ethnic weddings before as my wife and I are Chinese. Cultural sensitivity is an important factor if you will involve foreign traditions in your wedding. Once I found out Ariel met those 2 conditions, I scheduled an interview with Ariel in Asheville.
Perhaps the most important factor on deciding on your wedding photographer is to see if you can build a rapport with him or her. We had a great chat at a coffee shop for about an hour and discussed the basic details of our wedding. In fact, she did so well on her interview we decided to cancel the other scheduled interviews in the upcoming weeks and hired her right away!
On one other detail, if you decided to involve dogs in your engagement shoot or wedding day, Ariel loves dogs and works well with them (just don’t know about her affinity to cats so I can’t speak on that matter).
Onto the wedding day… Her demeanor was extremely professional and saintly patient with (arguably) demanding wedding guests. She is also highly creative on getting the most beauty out of the wedding venue. Above all, she has delivered us wedding photos that our loved ones and us will treasure for the rest of our lives.
This is the first review I am writing from all of my wedding vendors because I want to make absolutely sure that I get it done. Matt and Ariel were AMAZING. We live in NYC but we...
re travelling to NC to my husband's hometown. Newly engaged, we wanted to take advantage of the fall in Asheville and set out to find a photographer available at very short notice. We were so lucky to find Matt and Ariel. They did such an incredible job with the engagement pictures that we asked them to travel to NYC for the wedding. I have to say that as the wedding came closer and I started to freak out in my head, I started to worry about all the worse case scenarios and started to think that maybe I should have gotten a NYC photographer because the whole feel of my wedding was NYC, the skyline, the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, Grand Central terminal, and The Plaza Hotel. I wanted to capture it all and I worried that maybe they would not be able to since they are not newyorker. Well I could not have been more wrong!!! Matt and Ariel did their homework and they have an amazing eye and incredible talent. We have hundreds and hundreds of pictures and one is more beautiful than the other. Everyone that has looked at them says they are the best pictures they have ever seen. Literally all of our friends want to AMW Studios. Their price was more than fair and there pictures are invaluable. We also had a super fun time with them. They are so funny and easy going. I could write a whole book of praises for this team but the bottomline is, if you want to have THE BEST pictures ever!! you have to go with them there's just no one better. I want to give them 10 stars!!
If I could give Ariel and Matt more than 5 stars I would. They went above and beyond. They were fabulous to work with, they were fun and energetic and they took the most amazing ...
pictures!
They were accommodating to my crazy family and they got all of our pictures done which was a challenge!
I have no words for how amazing they were! I would recommend them to everybody! My family is still discussing how fun they were to work with and how awesome the pictures were.
I love them, please use them, you won't be disappointed!!
Ariel and Matt are truly AMAZING. Not only are they terrific photographers, but they are so kind and helpful. They helped make my wedding day perfect, and I can't thank them enough...
for all they did. I truly love the photographs, they are all a work of art, and I have gotten so many compliments on them. I also received numerous compliments from my wedding party and guests saying how great the photographers were that day. Their expertise in wedding photography was so helpful, and they have such a great eye for photography. I was very particular about what photographer I chose, coming from a graphic design background, but I couldn't be more pleased!
We worked with Ariel and Matt for our September 2013 wedding in NH. They were an absolute joy. We held our first meeting over skype, as we were planning the wedding from another st...
ate, and we immediately knew that we wanted to work with them. They approach their clients with a laid-back, yet professional attitude and make an effort to learn about the couple. They completely understood what we were looking for and gave us complete confidence in their ability to deliver.
On the day of the wedding, though we had only met them in person once, Matt and Ariel fit right in. They arrived while we were getting ready and started right away with detail and getting ready shots. They were very good at directing people and keeping us on schedule. They stayed late into the evening. They never felt like they were in the way. At times I almost forgot they were there, and yet they were right there the moment I realized I wanted a picture with by childhood friends.
Most importantly, their photographs are beautiful. They were able to capture all the happiness of our wedding day. We are thrilled with our choice to work with AMW Studios.
Matt and Ariel are wonderful. A joy to work with, and they have the best ideas for photos. We have many special memories thanks to them!

os and on our wedding day. Their people skills combined with their incredible photographic talent gave us the greatest gift from our wedding - pictures that I can't wait to display for a lifetime.
My husband and I are truly thrilled with how our wedding photos came out. Matt & Ariel captured so many special moments - so many expressions full of joy and love! They clearly...
put a lot of effort into understanding what was important to us; our ceremony photos are full of emotion, we have wonderful shots of our guests dancing, and they didn't take us away from the party for any more time than was necessary. I was really impressed with how hard they both worked all day, even when it was really hot on the dance floor! I've been looking through the photos every day since they were posted. Also, AMW makes it very easy to view and order photos online for your guests - it's been great to share the online proofing gallery with friends rather than have to upload all the photos myself to share them. We would very, very highly recommend AMW Studios!
Ariel and Matt are beyond spectacular! Consummate professionals, fun and amazingly creative, they not only captured our wedding day beautifully, but they enhanced the day with the...
ir presence. From the very beginning, they were an absolute pleasure to work with. They are very responsive, answered all of our questions, and did whatever they could to make the process easy and stress free for us. Their style is unobtrusive yet they manage to capture every detail beautifully. And the end product is outstanding! They make every effort to get to know their clients well before the big day to ensure that they deliver the perfect product. I cannot say enough about how utterly fantastic they are! Choosing to work with Ariel & Matt was by far the best planning decision we made.
This vendor is made up of 2 wonderful people who really enjoy what they do and they do it very well. From the first meeting to the last snap of the camera, they were just fabulous....
We recommend them 100%.
I was a guest at a wedding earlier this year and so enjoyed the work of Ariel and Matt (AMW Photos) that I have continued to follow these two wonderful photographers. Whenever I ha...
ve the opportunity to check out their work, I am touched by the creativity they express as they capture the fullness of the loving relationships of those involved. From accoutrements to formals, from engagement through weddings/receptions to "trash the dress," Matt and Ariel are skilled professionals and wonderful artists who present a great photographic expression of how it feels to be in love and some very significant moments in the journey of commitment. From some of the intimate and personal moments to the seriousness and delight of the ceremonies and celebrations, their photographs show an incredible range of emotion. They show us the solemn and the playful. Clearly they take the time to know their clients and appear to both connect with and serve them so well. They capture the heart of love. I am delighted to know them and celebrate their work.
We wholeheartedly recommend AMWPhotos! Compared to other photographers that we contacted, Matt and Ariel distinguished themselves immediately by being friendly, down-to-earth, res...
ponsive, courteous, and accommodating. We felt extremely comfortable working with them and were thrilled with the quality of photos we received. Matt and Ariel were willing to work within our budget without compromising quality. Now that we've witnessed their skills and service first hand, we would happily hire them again at twice the price! Just as important as their photographic skills (which are excellent), they are an absolute joy to work with. We felt like we had another set of friends at our wedding!
My mother-in-law to be came across Matt and Ariel through work. She is a justice of the peace and has worked with many photographers. They came highly reccomended; so we gave them ...
a call! They agreed to travel and capture our wedding in beautiful Mexico. From the very begining, they were both a breathe of fresh air! Matt and Ariel's friendly attitude and professionalism were second to none, and the way they approached their work created a piece of mind that was reassuring to all. The joke with my wife and I was that even if the pictures came out bad (which of course they were beyond phenominal) they were the best part of our wedding! Having Ariel spend quality time with the girls getting ready and Matt with the guys was perfect. They were both funny and worked so well together! Trash the dress was GREAT! it was a little chilly that morning at sunrise and we were both so surprised when tiny Ariel (and Matt) got in the water with us and were just as wet as we were by the end of the shoot! Our wedding was wonderful and all the better because of Matt and Ariel's hard work and dedication. We definitely made the right decision choosing Matt and Ariel and are forever grateful to them for their service!
We LOVE Ariel and Matt of AMW photos! They managed to make my fiance look comfortable in front of the camera in our engagement photos, which is no easy feat. Our images are amazi...

orite has been: AMW photo. I met them at a wedding I did in Wellesley. Right before I left, I knew AMW photo- which is compound by a young couple-Ariel & Matt; were the perfect match for my daughter- Nicole & husband to be- Adam's destination wedding, in Riviera Maya,Cancun MX. Nicole is one of the picky ones. I knew it was going to be hard to find her a match. They clicked right away, lots of chemistry with Ariel & Matt, they met via phone, email, skype, due to Nicole & Adam living in NC. Ariel & Matt were Super professional. During the 8 days we spent together in Cancun they didn't rest one single bid, they were taking shots at all times. Every move was important for them; even the one when a crab was crawling on the sand, closed to me- at the beach during the reception and almost gave me a heart attack. AMW photo is Superb. I will recommend it to anyone. I did for my daughter's wedding. We are very proud; and GRATEFUL for their work, dedication, and professionalism. AMW is for sure, Number ONE in professional Photography.

t creative and fun, and very easy to work with. And my photos are gorgeous, true works of art. I love showing them off! They really captured so many nuances, and produced an exquisite album of my family at our best. Thanks, Ariel and Matt, for bringing your artistic vision and professionalism to my special day!
my husband and i found Matt and Ariel by searching through EVERY photographer on The Knot. right off the bat we loved their photographs. since we were out of town, we met with the...
m via SKYPE. from then on, that they would be perfect for us. we chose the package that included both of them, which was the right decision. because we were able to get multiple points of view in our pics. we felt so comfortable with them. they put us right at ease, and we laughed a lot with them throughout the formals. after that, the only time we ever knew they were there was when there were moments like the cake cutting or something that was a more formal moment. we (and everybody we showed) are thrilled with the pictures. so many of them look like they could be in a magazine...but they were still able to capture the personal side, which was so important to us. we just got through putting our album together, and they have been great to work with. they did a mock up (which was extremely helpful) of a first draft and have been extremely patient with and open to our changes.
one final thing -- since we were out of town, we didn't have time to do our engagement session in boston. they called and let us know that they were on a 4th of july weekend in philly and asked if we wanted to do the engagement session since they were going to be in town. we spent a wonderful day with them and got some fabulous photographs from it!
we would recommend Matt and Ariel in a heartbeat!

Before I could say, did you get a picture of that, they already had! Our family and friends loved them. I would have another wedding just to have them photograph it.
