A Moveable Feast

nd, but based on the quality of his reviews and promises of excellence he made us, went forward with hiring him. I would not personally hire him again or recommend him- here are some of the reasons why: 1. Poor communication/lack of professionalism: it took weeks of emailing and calling Dominic prior to the wedding to get the menu finalized. He claims it was because his busy season. When we finally got the menu it was twice the price he had originally quoted us. This added a lot of stress and upsetment right before the wedding. We had to go back to him and negotiate back to the original quoted price. I found it frustrating that we had to pursue him for weeks to get the menu finalized- when he should have been the one reaching out to us. The night of the wedding my now husband went over to Dominic to introduce himself since they had not met in person before and Dominic asked him to pay the balance of what we owed him. My husband did not have a check on him (obviously) and had to leave the wedding for 20 minutes to try and pay him. In the end he couldn't find one and Dominic agreed to let him pay the next day. However, this is a detail that Dominic should have arranged with us ahead of time and not literally in the middle of our wedding. Also, my family who lives in the area had offered to go to Missoula for a tasting on our behalf, but again Dominic claimed he was too busy. Overall, Dominic was our worst vendor in terms of communication and I was disappointed by his professionalism- especially given the level of service he claims to provide. 2) Portion sizes- we had agreed to do a family style serving of food with Dominic. I expressed to him that I wanted to make sure we had enough food for everyone and he assured me the name of his company was"a moveable feast" after all and we would have plenty. The night of the wedding however several guests informed me that the portions had been so small they had not gotten enough food. The platters were running out of food before everyone could receive some. My expectation in this scenario was that Dominic's team would refill/replace those platters so everyone had enough, but they didn't do it unless someone at the table specifically asked- which not everyone knew they could do and I wouldn't have expected them too. 3) Vendor meals- I was horrified to learn after the wedding that the vendor meals were tiny and of poor quality- our wedding planner told us she would have priced them at $5 per meal when we had paid $35 per meal. Dominic had assured me the vendor meals were the same food as everyone else and "he would get them all fed". I was horrified to learn how our vendors had been treated. This is probably the biggest reason I will never use him again. Overall, while the quality of his food was good (the appetizers, salmon, and bison were delicious- the salad and chicken were boring and dry), I would not recommend or use A Moveable Feast again.
