I'm AJ Smith, the heart and energy behind 1Wave DJs. Music has been my life since before I was 10, taking private lessons as a percussionist and never looking back. After proudly serving in the US Navy, I honed my skills at Mesa Community College, earning a Certificate in Audio Production Technologies. I've been backstage with legends — working as a stagehand for Elton John, Lady Gaga, and Diana Ross, building the stage for Kid Rock and Playing on Stage with Kenny Olson— I sharpened my craft as a lighting and sound technician at the renowned Interlochen Center for the Arts. When I launched 1Wave DJs, my mission was simple: deliver unforgettable entertainment that packs dance floors and exceeds every expectation. I pour that same passion into every wedding, making sure couples feel like stars on their big day. I create beats and perform in front of many different types of audiences. DJ Guro Cathy has an ear for the dance floor and loves entertaining. She has dedicated almost 3 years building sets, moving audio gear, lighting, and making graphics behind the scenes. Now she sets up and DJs weddings, karaoke events, dance parties and birthdays. Her attention to detail, and her eye for beauty give her the special ability to keep you visually happy and the dance floor moving. She can communicate to your guests well, and has been my go to DJ starting in 2026. She is gaining popularity and experience, and can handle the necessities of your big day from start to finish. She has done over 75 events and is quickly becoming the next big hit in Northern Michigan!
